About
From an uninhabited planet in space to an ecosystem full of life.
In Planetary Life you will be able to shape a planet in the purest Sandbox Simulation style, playing with its mountains, seas and even its climate, to create the perfect habitat to harbor life.
Control a planet with the multiple tools available. Let the tectonic plates shape the mountains and seas, modify the climate, the heat of the nucleus, the volcanic activity, the gases of the atmosphere, etc... until shaping the home of your creatures.
Add creatures and evolve them from simple organisms to intelligent beings. Design and expand them looking for the balance of a perfect ecosystem.
Help them or let them fight for survival on their own.
Create new life forms combining different types of cells. From single cells and multicellular life, to macroscopic creatures and plants.
Change core heat and volcanic activity to shape your planet terrain through volcanoes.
Manipulate rainfalls, cloud and surface albedo to change the climate.
Build ecosystems. Maintain the balance between fauna and flora. Do not let them break the harmony and avoid the extinction of species.
You can walk around and see from a first-person point of view your planet and your creations.
When your creatures reach sufficient intelligence they will organize themselves into tribes and later flourish into civilizations. Manage and help them in the battle for technology to conquer the planet.

I had to refund too.. it just didn't work out for me. The frequency of natural disasters was way to high and there frequently was a "ok, i... don't understand how i can further influence anything to progress"-feeling. (e.g. how do i get the moister level to high on non-water areas? I still haven't figured it out. Raining doesn't do anything and slowly.. very slowly.. building up a forest close to the water didn't do it either. Well, i think i check back once it has been out for a bit longer (maybe in a year). //EDIT so i didnt refund it because my girlfriend wanted to play it as well and its only 12€ so... thats fine. Her thoughts are fairly close to mine tho.. she added the there is barely any depth and that the game quickly ends in a boring repetition state.
the spore we deserved

This is a very nice little evolution game that holds up well, especially when it comes to ideas like civilizations and what not being planned for later on (something life sim games like this tend to ignore completely!) I've spent quite a bit of time in this game now and while I've enjoyed it, I do have one major complaint: This game doesn't fully grasp the mechanics behind actual evolution. Mainly, if a creature evolves something like seal-like fins, it can never evolve those back into legs without being devolved back into fish fins and THEN into legs. Shark-like back fins can never evolve into back plates for cooling or other things they'd realistically evolve into if the creature happened to evolve onto land. If an animal becomes a strict carnivore or herbivore, they can never evolve their diet into something else unless you interfere, and entire lineages of species tend to die off because of this when in reality they'd slowly adapt their diet to what's available (good real life example is how herbivores will sometimes supplement their diet with meat, and carnivores will often supplement with grass and what not.) Evolution doesn't just decide to stick with something forever once it becomes "advanced" enough, it improvises and turns that thing into something else once it's surpassed it's original purpose- it's the reason insect wings are actually gills and why so many of their appendages are actually legs that've been modified into something else. This one major flaw causes evolution to seriously stagnate after a while and causes monocultures to form very easily where life just *stops* evolving in any meaningful ways. It's a shame and I feel like it's the one thing stopping really interesting ecosystems from forming- that and strange limits like the size of the animal being almost entirely dictated by the digestive system when there's a lot of other factors to that and ways for animals to get big while still being relatively "complex".
i love the game i really do but there are so many glitches like it makes it stupid like for example one my oxegen dissaperad out of nowhere no my whole ecosystem is dying 2. plants die as soon as i import them like no matter what i do they still die EVEN THOUGH THERES OTHER PLANTS THRIVING 3. a balanced new world where the water just turns straight to ice :) and heating up the core wont do anything even if theres the slitest chance of life the lava just burns the puddle away so i just reccomend choosint the water planets
Very fun game, and a good way to burn 5 hours. I completed all the achievements in that period of time. The future is looking bright, and I am excited to come back at the next update when civilizations are added.
I placed carnivorous and herbivorous fish in the ocean, and left to work on another planet in the system. When I came back, the herbivorous fish had evolved to become amphibious to avoid their predators still stuck in the water. The carnivores died out, slowly eating the remains of their elders. Very weird, but very fun. Also I think I made purple elephant crocodiles and dinosaurs co-exist peacefully
the graphics look horrible the civilization update has taken years i know its early access and that a big update takes time but if you want the update right now i don't really reccomend you to buy it and i would like the developers to improve water phisics there horible and unrealistic improve the lighting improve the textures they look goofy i want realism not goofy looking textures or goofy water improve this before the update please and i know godot allow you to create reflections and a lot of things USE THE POWER OF YOR ENGINE CORRECTLY
Recommending because I would love for this game to be made but it's extremely early access and the creatures don't look great. The cell stage looks cool but I can't save any of my cells. I wanted to create cytobacteria as my first creation but you just kind of mash cells together until it forms a multicelular thing.
feels like spore again
I'd say its worth 12€, if you feel unsure, you do get like most of the game when playing the demo, I think I played an hour or so of the demo before I decided I wanted to support the dev. They're currently working on a civ update so that'll be something to look forward to. Basically galactic scale world terrariums. Pro tip, don't evolve poison fungus too early or your planet might be doomed :3
