I was looking for something chill to play on my Steam Deck during a long flight, and Planet of Lana was one of the games I downloaded. It ended up being pretty memorable even without dialogue. The environmental storytelling was awesome, and the whole journey felt bigger than I expected. [h1] [b] The Good [/b] [/h1] + The art and animation are superb. It looks amazing for a side scroller. + The adventure feels epic. The journey to the end feels really satisfying. + Mui is a great companion. You have a small creature friend who helps you, and you can pet them! + Great environmental storytelling! [h1] [b] The Bad [/b] [/h1] - Some jumping sections are annoying. The platforming felt inconsistent at times. - Hidden statues can be frustrating. I do not think you can find all of them organically in one playthrough. All in all, Planet of Lana is a beautiful and chill side scroller.

A short 2d puzzle platformer. Your character's world is torn apart when your older sibling and clan are suddenly kidnapped by an invasion of machines. Successfully evading the robots, you meet a small companion and together go on a journey to find your clan, investigate the invasion and discover your people's roots. It's a solid stealth/puzzle/platformer in the style of Playdead's titles (except vibrant and more heartwarming lol) and favours atmospheric storytelling, good art direction and sound. The puzzles are largely pretty simple with a few annoying ones here and there or some annoying control sections (the flying sections were a bit of a pain lol). Despite the generally short length, the puzzles start to get a bit repetitive as there are only a handful of new mechanics introduced throughout the game. There's an achievement for beating the game without dying which I totally cheesed by quitting to main menu on deaths to prevent the death from being tracked. The devs seemed to have omitted this achievement on the recent sequel so it seems they're aware it wasn't liked. 7.5/10
