Pass-time, puzzle, 2D, educational game, suitable for minors. Lots of beautiful images full of colours, all different made in "PIxel Art". Some are dynamic Gifts, the themes are different, animals, flowers, food, characters, landscapes, cartoons and much more. It is a simple product, well made and also suitable for children, it is excellent entertainment. You need to build the image by assembling the various pieces to place on the board with reference letters. You can decide to look for the right place to place a tile yourself, or use the method suggested by the game: select a letter and it will show you where they are, start with A then select the one after B, then C etc, until the drawing is completed. There are 6 levels of 50 puzzles to complete: starting with Small, then Medium, Large, Obviously the larger they are, the more pieces there are to place and the smaller the letters appear in the drawing. Be careful because if you leave a drawing halfway it will not be saved, the game saves the progress of the completed puzzles. You can choose the day version with the white background, or the night version with the black background which is more relaxing for the eyes. I recommend it, it is a relaxing game suitable for all ages, simple to learn, it helps improve visual skills using logic while having fun. Needing to place chunks of lettered blocks onto a grid sounds almost like work, but it also slightly reminds me of a classic jigsaw puzzle. Find the right place for the right piece, and you end up with an enjoyable image. Maybe that sounds better for old-timers like me though.
Gameplay
As you load up a grid, it's shape will the match the final image you're attempting to make. It won't look like much when everything is the same, dark gray color, but as you place pieces across it, the image becomes more clear. You'll only see three pieces at any given time, each of which varies from about 3-7 blocks. Technically, they can be made of a single block, but those almost only come up when there's a lone diagonal block, as a piece never connects by diagonals. The puzzle almost works like paint-by-numbers, as each block has a letter representing a specific color. Looking across the grid, you'll find the right place to put each of the pieces, as they have to match exactly. Starting with the smallest category, there's six puzzle packs that keep increasing in size. To unlock the next one, you need to clear enough puzzles from earlier packs. What I expected from PS is that puzzles would have red herrings. You'd find a couple of places for some pieces, and need to place other ones first, ruling out locations they couldn't go and whittle down your options over time. However, that comes up much less often than I'd ever have imagined. For many puzzles, every piece can only go in one place at all. If you pick up a piece and move it over the grid, you cannot put it in an incorrect area. It'll only let you place the piece when it matches each letter exactly. Ultimately, this means that you aren't thinking while playing this game. Instead, you pick up a piece, find the only place it'll go, and set it down. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3133023295
Controls
I wouldn't expect something like this to work with a controller, and the mouse controls are perfect for one simple reason. You don't have to click and drag the blocks over. Instead, just click on the piece you want to move, it'll follow your mouse cursor, and then click again when it's lined up in the right place. It couldn't work better. A minor complaint is that it could be easier to scroll up and down through the puzzles or letter selection.
Story
Much like 5T, there's no story elements for this compilation of puzzles. That makes sense to me though, as I used to solve jigsaw puzzles just for the sake of them. The experience itself is the only reason needed. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3133023731
Visuals
One of the main factors that caught my interest were the compelling visuals. Although PS doesn't have the benefit of 3D, I still enjoy pixel art. Plus, a basic image is enough reward, when more often than not merely solving the puzzle is what gives the most satisfaction to them. Aside from a menu to navigate, you'll just be looking at the grid in order to place the pieces, and the finished product after it's solved. The letters and pieces are easy enough to distinguish, meaning you won't mistake an 'N' for an 'M' or anything. For the smaller puzzles at least. With the larger ones, it'd be more dependent on the size of your screen, as they started getting blurry for me. It's a basic system, but it works well, and the finished images have a nice aesthetic.
Sound Design
If you don't hear any music playing, don't crank your volume straining for it. There simply isn't any, but if the volume is maxed out, you might get blasted by sound effects. I was confused when looking at the options, as it has a toggle to mute the music, when it only applies to a few noises from clearing the stage. Honestly, they aren't the most melodious sound effects, and you'd be dealing with pure silence otherwise, so you might as well turn it all off and put your own tunes on. At this point in my life I've found that a bit of music is welcome in many situations, even when I'm concentrating, so having none is a disappointment. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3133024340
Pros
🌟 You can switch between light and dark mode for the game's visuals. I found the white background too bright, and enjoyed dark mode much more. 🌟 Each pack of levels has 50 puzzles, for a total of 300 puzzles.
Cons
❌ Releasing three puzzle games at once meant no feedback could be incorporated nor lessons learned from what went poorly or well with the earlier titles. ❌ The sound effects aren't particularly delightful, so you might as well mute everything and play your own background music. ❌ Failing is practically impossible when there's no room for mistakes.
Tips
🔍 The game is very easy if you simply work through the letters alphabetically. I think they always have the least amount of pieces, and it goes up from there. 🔍 Occasionally a piece will fit more than one area of the grid. If so, just skip it. Most pieces only have one place to go, so it'll quickly get ruled out.
Final Thoughts
When I first started PS, I was glad that it felt more accessible than 5T. The puzzle itself wasn't obstructing my view, and the premise was so straightforward and easy to work with. My heart dropped so quickly once I saw there wasn't any misdirection with the puzzles I was solving though. I wasn't solving anything. With only a single place for any piece to go, I was merely a flunkie putting things where they belonged. Over time, I began searching for any example I could find where a piece belonged to more than one location, but it was still scarce. It got so trivial that I didn't even sort them by letter anymore, able to find their spot quickly and easily enough without that assistance, even in the large category. There's three more categories to go, which would expand the size even more, but I'm not motivated enough to grind the stars to open them and see if they change anything else. What's the incentive when I'm so bored already? PS came close to a solid game, but it missed the entire point of doing a puzzle like this.
Beautiful artwork, not much meaning in each level since there's no story behind but do relaxing after a long day at work. Some pictures you can't guess what it's until you solve it, a little hidden here, lol. Anyway, thanks for a nice game. Keep working Devs!
