Reminiscent of FF6 (variety of characters with multiple backgrounds who gradually join your team/classes) and Pokemon (tall grass battles, class evolution at level 60). There is a ton of hidden chests/items and an optional Dark Tower to climb. Minimal grind and the ability to customize your character with different armor combinations is endless. The story draws you in and the subtle Easter eggs like penguins saying dude (Disgaea). Pure fun and a homage to those pioneering JRPGs of old!
I recommend it because it's not bad but I'd wait for a sale. A simple but enjoyable fantasy JRPG. My main critique is that you can't exclusively play with keyboard. Navigating the menu and combat sometimes requires a mouse which is annoying. Also beware that the menu screen has a moving background and might cause nausea.

Pixelot is very good indie turn based RPG with pixel art esthetics that manages to entertain and engage the player for the most part. The pixel art, the music and the multiple RPG mechanics come together in a beautiful, compelling, and fun way giving the player an experience that oozes personality. However, the generic aspects of the setting and story, the lack of character development, the lack of significant story moments and the excessive number of fights that the game puts you through affect the overall experience of the game. A really good game, easy to learn and ready to give you many hours trying to grow your team to face more and more difficult enemies. The simple graphics frame a game with solid logic and an interesting story. Really well designed!
I played the beta version of this right before release, and it's a blast. I'm a JRPG enthusiast, and I'm particularly interested in streamlined, minimal games that take out boring/uninteresting things and really focus the game into something solid and fun. Pixelot is definitely one of those types of games. Battles are intense and fast-paced, and the difficulty ramps up quite smoothly. The army/party part is also interesting; unlike most JRPGs with a few characters, you can pretty much mix and match to whatever combination you like, and very quickly gain quite a sizable roster. Definitely worth checking out if you like streamlined or minimal JRPGs.
I think this Game uses AI generated Images for the Key Art, Prologue Cutscene, and the "Establishing Shots" for areas, but I did enjoy the Gameplay of what little I played, and the story was quite fine I got to the part where you defeat a Wolf, but the battle tutorial was bit overbearing though, just telling you what things do, and probably would be better if it was done across a few battles with some NPCs giving hints about how battles work, I would prefer better controller support and other things that would improve playing on Steam Deck, since that's what I play on mostly, but the AI Images are my worst problem, I would be happier if it was replaced, but I still think this game and the developer have potential from what I saw of the game.
Pixelot is a game that does a lot with very little. It’s well put together, challenging, and a welcome entry in a classic genre. While it can come across as a simple game on the surface, there is plenty of substance underneath its pixelated exterior and it’s definitely worth taking a look to see all the passion that clearly went into this game.
This was my favorite game when I had an iPad Mini Great Nostalgia for me...
Really enjoyable game, the developer really has my deepest respect for being able to release this game all by himself! Great soundtrack, good gameplay time, easy to remember playability, simple controls. The fact that all of your characters keep leveling up is really a great point. Anyway, congratulations for the game! Was really fun to play it!! :)
