I am begging you to add some sort of early game progression for dealing more damage or lowering every non-boss enemies HP by like 50%. The gameplay of going around and fighting all the "weak" enemies is a carpal tunnel simulator . I cleared one of the big bandit camps and then audibly groaned when I found another. An hour of running around spamming light attacks and magic attacks was exhausting. You clearly put a lot of time into developing this game and it really shows. Super great artwork, sound, enemy design, GUI, game mechanics with fire/lightning/poison/being drunk, dialogue with townspeople, and exploration. Please try to make the Hack and Slash aspect of the game more enjoyable.
I was lucky enough to play test the game and it exceeded my expectations. The lack of hand-holding has rewarded my diligence and curiousity with enjoyment, hilarious pop culture references, exceptional soundscapes, hidden items, truly challenging bosses, a lush and rich map, and a purpose that at first was not clear to me - however as I spent more time in the game all of my questions were answered. The lore built beautifully over time. Most importantly it is just a super fun game to play. Every time I pick up the controller I pick up something else I missed before. It keeps me coming back.
I always do a test play after buying a indie game that looks interesting especially when said game has little info online, yet peaks my interest... I refund ASAP once i judge it by personal gameplay/experience. Many get Doomed to The steam graveyard to be Stored/encoded in the labyrinthine Database of Steam thus becoming rellics or Digital-Fossils of the Current version of our Mankind... Its all from a bygone era fading away into time itself. By happenstance a Descendant of our lineage will Discover it one day and mabe even judge it as probable Scrap code/Shovel-ware on 1st inspection, our Descended Human Brethren in this Distant future would have evolved far beyond our current Genetic Genome and Cyber capabilities These Archaeological Datasmiths will realize the magnitude and importance of what they found which is the Steam Labyrinth of Games the workings of a people encapsulated in the great Eternal Indie Game repository of forgotten/Unknown games. That said this game is 100% why i browse the deep indie videogame abyss of steam.. indie games have a charm and vibe that just hits different than triple A games, although many are literal time-wasters/ Cash-grabs/Ai-Slop/parody-BS The Abyss of Indie game creations gets longer by the month BUT once in a while you stumble on a Hidden Gem from time to time Enter- Pixel Wizard: fun morbid sexy and challenging (okay mabe not the sexy part) BUT it does have a Hand drawn unique atmosphere, i plan to play much more of it in due time, but if your reading this and your like me.. 2 thumbs up, i plan to play the game enough to the point i have to blame it for the reason my marriage to my imaginary wife fell apart. Sorry Becky you were never even real anyways.....
Is good. It's hard too, bosses are very tough, but that is something to work towards and makes the achievement an actual achievement. The keyboard controls aren't great, so a controller would be best.
Absolutely brutal and I love it. I knew I would enjoy it when my first cheevo popped up. Was having some difficulties with my first boss, until I discovered the heavy attack - I think it'll be a bit easier now. Been watching on Reddit. Nice to see it released. Fun game, and looks great. Planned to play for 30 minutes... Nearly three hours later here I am... Pro-tip: the old man in the town centre has ALL the tea.
I've only played an hour so far, but I really enjoyed it and definitely will be playing it more. The combat is very fun and challenging. Between dodging, ranged attacks, melee attacks, you have everything you need to take out most early game enemies without scrolls or books. Assuming you don't pull too many enemies and time your heavy strikes and dodges well. The hardest enemy I fought and killed with the default attacks was a minotaur, so I'm sure the bosses will require stronger weapons. I really enjoy the artistic style and liveliness of the the towns people. The little details give the game a lot of charm which is always one of the best parts of a good indie game. The pixel art also gives it that nostalgic feeling. Also I thought I was going crazy at first, but the blacksmith looks like Steve from Minecraft and I'm pretty sure the furnace he uses is from Valheim, but I might just be seeing things lol. My only gripe would be using the basic mana attack by pressing it repeatedly is a little annoying and would make my hand sore if I played for a few hours. A press and hold would be much better in my opinion. The mana attacks could then automatically fire at a constant pace until you let go of the button. The light and heavy melee attack are well done already because it gives you the choice of mashing to stun an enemy with fast attacks or holding and timing a strong strike well. Overall highly recommend, this is an indie gem that was clearly made with a ton of heart and soul. I hope it gets a bunch of attention because it would be well deserved unlike some of the crap on steam lol.
Enjoying it so far! Feels like a classic arcade game from back in the day with boss fights and different tactics for each enemy. There's clearly careful thought put into gameplay balance and it shows.
Difficult but juicy combat with enough to make it interesting, the classic sort of fantasy world that satisfies that nostalgia. So much detail and love put into every inch of this game. Dev is also a super guy, friendly and cares a lot about the game.
A fun challange that I was fortunate enough to playtest. Go talk to the townsfolk, they'll both make you laugh and tell you about the land and where to go. Combat is hectic if you hush in head first, but can be slower and more methodical if you lure in smaller groups. The spells available in game are veried and your sure to some that match your play style. The sword being able to delfect most ranged attacks makes it invaluable in many scenarios. Good progression of difficulty and really nice side areas with hidden goodies. Great unique boss fights. Great pixel art and the soundtrack really fits the theme.
Pixel Wizard catched me by surprise with its reactive world and emergent storytelling an also by how addicting slashing, burning and vaporizing enemies is! The town is charming and listening to the townsfolk babble and party in the evening is great fun too! The game will kick your sorry ass. There are several very hard bosses and you will need some practice to beat them. Exploring the world will grant you very powerful spells for damage or to protect yourself though. Don't drink and cast wizards!
