An ok VR single player driven FPS with some good and some not so good. You're a space cargo hauler and taking supplies to a Asteroid mining station. But when you get there somethings wrong and you have to fight your way to save the inhabitants from space pirates. Video review: https://youtu.be/oNtuoA2s18E It's a solid VR game for an indie and while not super polished it does enough to get by. The payment mechanic I found clunky and the whole start in a chair on space craft then stand for station exploring is a good idea. Gave a little more realism to the game. The docking looked good and flying under the space station was a nice touch. Dialogue is good with a good variety of answers from which you can choose. A lot of thought has gone into the game and while voice acting is just average I wouldn't expect any more from a title like this. The space ship part while interesting can get a little boring but it soon livens up on the station. I do a full review in the video so best to view that for a more in depth look. I see there is a demo so you've got nothing to lose trying it first. I recommend for those who want a story driven VR single player game and don't mind a little indie with their side salad.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program You can view my full walk-through gameplay for an abrupt ending plus some initial review thoughts here: https://youtu.be/sJOCXlsMsWs So this is a nice little hidden gem. Well, maybe more like a rough stone with a diamond inside because it does need a lot of polish to get at the very good within this game. I had fun playing this game. I really enjoyed the story (even though I kind of predicted a major plot point). You really are on this epic space adventure. Game took me about 5 hours to complete (Really 6 hours, but 1 hour I spent on a bug .. more on that later), even though the store page says up to 3 hours long. You have full locomotion and snap turning. You have dialogue choices which you pick via gaze-based navigation. There's fully voiced-dialogue that's actually pretty good and there's several misspellings on the text dialogue choices. You can turn subtitles on or off in the settings. Most of the action involves shooting. You have a handgun and then a rifle to shoot. To be honest, the combat is not the strong suit of this game. It's very basic and not very well-done. However, it is strategic. Basically you have to shoot the pipes to make steam come out and then shoot the wings of the flying drones to get them to fly close to the steam so you can take them out. That's a combat dynamic that is repeated over and over. There's just more drones to deal with and fewer pipes to shoot. Actually, for whatever reason, the combat although not very good, grew on me a bit and I don't know why. Maybe because I was really liking the story & atmosphere. That's really where this game shines. You'll have some light puzzles to solve. Some choices to make. You feel like a hero for the most part (a venerable Hans Solo). Most of the game is looking at boring hallways. Then there are some pretty scenic spots though like a bar with deadly debris floating nearby in the air. I believe there may be different endings, but I only experienced 2 (one was rather abrupt end when I shot somebody I shouldn't have). Beware though, there are quite a few bugs. There's no sound unless you click on the game app. Then the sound mix is all over the place as you'll barely hear some of the voiced dialogue depending on where you are. There's the standard clipping and just the overall jankiness of the game, like when trying to grab an item or using credits in the vending machine for guns / ammo / etc. There are 2 really big bugs I experienced though. One was a the very beginning where you're given wrong instructions (see my video for more on this). Another big thing (although maybe not technically a bug) is an event that doesn't trigger unless you put your head near the floor at the air vent (I hope this gets patched because I don't see how anybody would figure this out - I spent over an hour on this and thankfully got help from the dev on what to do). Rate 6.5/10. Yes, I gave it an extra .5 because I enjoyed the ending. Still, fun at times and very frustrating at other times. Lastly, SAVE OFTEN!

UPDATE: 02 Jan 2021 After a year away from the game, I came back and decided to see if I could finish it. Observations are as follows: - While the story is somewhat 'open', I have reached a point in the game to where I have no solid idea what to do (e.g., I'm supposedly in a race to get back to my ship, to prevent something bad from happening, but when I get there, the other crew member is saying 'I took care of it' (and I'm thinking to myself ????????). It feels like I have the option to finish the game there, but I still have open objectives, and the option to leave the station goes nowhere. - This game was relatively decent over a year ago, but its core mechanics are behind what I would consider 'standard' in VR games these days (almost like going back to the original Resident Evil 2 after playing Resident Evil 4). - This game has some good ideas and ambitions, and could be made better with a facelift on User Interface, basic controls, and of course, graphics. After a year away from the game, I think I've come close to finishing it, but am confused on how to proceed, and I doubt I'll go back to the beginning to try to remember everything I forgot. A Game Guide would be very useful right now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's Nice to Discover a Game I Didn't Know I Needed Playing on Valve Index, i7-8700, GTX 1070Ti, 16GB RAM I haven't played much of the Sci-Fi RPG known as Mass Effect, but what I have played so far of this game reminds me of it. Now, Mass Effect has a lot more resources behind it, but this game makes a valiant effort in taking you on a story where your choices impact the the outcome (I think....from what I have experienced so far). Essentially, you're playing a Space Trucker (or Captain of a cargo ship, if you're feeling sensitive), and upon making a delivery at a space station, things go south real quick, due to the intentions of evil men (I'm okay if it's evil women, too). The game is part adventure (exploring), part action (gunfights), part RPG (talking with characters where you have multiple choices). Pros and Cons are as follows: Pros: - They allow you the choice of smooth locomotion based on hand or head orientation. - A very good menu system, which allows you to save at almost any point in the game. I didn't notice where you could delete a saved game if you want. - Your main enemies are flying drones. They largely act as bullet sponges at first, but they do have a weakness which takes away their spongeness. The problem is that is you need to create the situation which activates this weakness (this provides a little strategy). - Your resources/ammo cost credits, but fortunately everybody at the space station loves to leave their credit cards out in the open. - You have a utility belt to place most of your equipment on, and you have the ability to adjust its position on your body. I still run in scenarios where I've wound up reaching for the wrong thing (in the middle of a battle). - Interactions with the NPCs is fun, and you do have some choices in what you say/respond. Since I'm playing through this for the first time, It is difficult to say how my choices are affecting the gameplay. - The game's story develops slowly, and while not convoluted like a soap opera, requires some paying attention to (e.g., without paying attention to the story, it's just mindless wandering and random shooting). The story gives a wonderful sense of scope and purpose. - No one of the game's components (action/adventure/RPG) is mind-shattering stellar, but the combination of these components works in a way to create a greater whole of a game. - The difficulty of the game is decently balanced. Although some will certainly think it is easy, it enables a feeling of steady progression each time I play. Cons: - Snap turning only. Smooth turning would be very welcome. Physical turning works as well, but I'm lazy. - Your arms in the game look like someone attached them to a torture rack, and forgot to ease up on the stretching (try 2-hand holding the space rifle). You easily get used to it after the initial shock of wondering when your arms took a hit of LSD without telling you. - Use of your credit card to buy things is straight forward, but I often run into 'alignment issues' when 'swiping' my credit card. Not a deal breaker, but often annoying. - There is one part in the game where I got stuck. and had no clue what to do. Fortunately, someone had the same problem as I,and a solution is posted in one of the Discussion threads. In getting through the problem, though, the game wound up crashing on me, and I had to restart (save often). - After getting through the first level (A), I got into the elevator to go to the next level (B), the elevator does a 90 degree rotation that for a second, made me think I was falling off the earth. The first two times I used the elevator, the game wound up kicking me back to Steam Home. - Fighting the robots reminded me of fighting a sun-burned C3PO. The robots were unremarkable, and boring to fight. - Although it is in the 'Pros' above, all the elements come together to create an enjoyable game, but no one of the elements is particularly strong (e.g., exploring is fun, but pretty basic). - You can store a lot of things on your belt, but health packs are not one of them. A bit of a bummer, given you can carry copious amount of ammunition on you. Although the developer states 3 hours worth of play time, I'm at 4 hours, and I have no real idea of how long I have to go. The $20 price tag seems steep at first, but what the developer was offering is different compared to most other VR games I've played, and so I took a gamble. Outside of some initial frustrations with the controls, and some bugs (before you leave your space ship to go on the space station, place your space gun in your holster. Do NOT carry it in your hand), I feel the proce is fair. The only thing that would yank my crank about the price is if it goes on sale during Thanksgiving (I know I'm cheap!). Overall, I am enjoying the game because it is offering something different for myself compared to other games I've recently bought. There are some bugs in the game tha thave the potential of sucking the fun out of it, but fortunately rhe developer has been responsive in answering questions. I'm not sure where the game will end up taking me, but I'm enjoying the ride so far.
This game is interesting, and worth playing so far. I thought the NPC conversation interaction was done fairly well; better than a number of other similar games I've played recently. The storage belt was reasonably well implemented, and the "credit cards" were an interesting mechanic for managing money that worked well (once I figured out the process of using them). Instead of a head's up display that just shows a number, you carry the money on a card (or cards). If you lose the card, you lose the money. On the less ideal side, there were bugs and awkwardness. Not to sound snobby, but it definitely feels like it was put together by a small outfit. There are numerous learning curve stumbling blocks. In the intro, the game provides floating arrows to point you to locations, but the arrows can be confusing. It tells you to go to a panel (with previously mentioned arrows) but I still struggled to figure out where it wanted me to go. I found a bug where, if the first NPC to help you gets stuck due to pathing problems, they do not carry out their required event to enable you to move forward, even after you get them unstuck. In another situation, I stuck a number of ammo clips on my belt, but the first time I needed them, they had disappeared. So play the game, it's worth it, but save often.
Its fun and is a bit buggy but the fun out ways it a lot.
The experience of this game's first thirty minutes were... wonky. * In calibration, the game will ask you to calibrate both a standing and seated position, so you can interact with the cockpit, then get up and walk around. It doesn't, however, save a marker of *where your chair is located in your play environment*. * The ship's viewscreen is tilted towards the user at a bizarre angle that makes it difficult to interact with. Maybe my chair was positioned higher than the developers expected? * If you step outside of the game's terrain in your play area, the movement controls stop functioning, even to try to move you back onto walkable terrain. * Object interactions require a little more precision than seems to be necessary. The gun safe keypad, for example, requires you to be very precise of which buttons you poke, and is again positioned at an awkwardly low angle. * When leaving the ship for the first time, with gun in hand (because it's heavily implied to be a dangerous situation), the gun... disappeared! Gone, completely. Five minutes later I was attacked without any means of defending myself, as well as unable to return to the ship the way I came. * There doesn't seem to be any sort of melee options in this game. I tried punching and grappling my attacker (
a flying drone
) and found I could do nothing to it, which seemed counter-intuitive given how fragile it seemed. Pirates of the Asteroid Belt needs some significant polishing and bug-fixing. A more detailed review will be posted after I progress further.
controls are wierd and backward crisscrosed arms and sorry i paid for a space rpg not a puzzle game could not even get passed the very first part sorry guys got a refund but if you guys get it fixed might buy again after patches maybe
