Pink Noise is a nonlinear visual novel in the psychological horror genre, immersing you in the retro atmosphere of the '90s. It tells the tale of a group of teenagers who unknowingly set off a chain of terrifying events. What secrets lie within the mysterious VHS tape they should’ve never played?

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 11 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
An American provincial town has seen better days. Now it slowly withers away, shrouded in fog and surrounded by endless fields. Time feels frozen, and it seems nothing can awaken life in Riverwood.

But one day, a group of teenagers discovers a strange, unmarked VHS tape. Driven by curiosity, they decide to watch it, which sets off a chain of terrifying events. The tape seeps into their minds, turning their deepest fears into reality.
You need to uncover the origin of the cassette and escape the nightmare before it’s too late.
Try to help the characters survive — or lead them to ruin. The story will go on either way, but the ending may be hopeful... or not. It all depends on your choices.
You can also influence the relationships between characters by making moral choices.
Game features:
• Hundreds of hand-painted frames with animated characters and environments, creating a cinematic storytelling experience;
• The ability to influence the story and shape the fate of the main characters;
• Nonlinear, branching narrative with multiple paths and outcomes;
• A haunting original soundtrack that immerses you in an atmosphere of horror and mystery;
• Interactive elements and mini-games that expand the traditional visual novel experience;
• English voice acting for the characters;
• 90s retro aesthetic.
The first of the planned episodes will be released in 2026. In total, we aim to release five episodes, each taking you deeper into new layers of horror.
Content Notes

A significant improvement from the initial demo put out in 2025! While the differences in your choices may seem vague now, I am looking forward to what choosing certain things can do when future episodes release. This is chapter 1, after all, so I am looking forward to seeing if each choice simply unlocks more scenes with a few different endings or will wildly change the story in some way. The art is also gorgeous, and the sheer amount of moving segments could be considered an achievement. I am very impressed by how different each scene can be depending on your choices as well. Given the voice acting it would have been easy to have the scenes stay mostly the same with some added dialogue and an added scene in the middle, but given the scenes can be largely the same with completely different wording and then go into a completely new scene later on? It's more effort than many choice based games will go through. It was also a delightful touch for the skip feature to have a vhs fast forward sound, even if it was a little annoying while achievement hunting. My only complaints are: I feel the translation can be a bit off at times. While largely good, it can feel stiff in some places and then weirdly poetic excessive in others, like there were two translators who's work clash with each other. But luckily it was never enough to completely break my immersion. I also feel like the later scenes were MUCH too dark, as in I couldn't SEE anything. I had the brightness turned up all the way at one point and I was still frustrated I couldn't fully see the artwork. But overall, I am looking forward to what comes next!

I was one of the Kickstarter backers. An unfortunate and unexpected issue meant that the team never received the funds we provided. Despite this, the team was transparent, honest, and generous to the backers. They kept us updated and fulfilled the rewards even though they were operating at a loss and the situation derailed their initial plans. I have trust, confidence, and respect for them and am optimistic that they will do their best to complete the game. I'm writing this having finished my first play-through of episode one. I was hooked! The art and animation are captivating to look at and expressive. The music is spooky and the atmosphere is sleepy but suspenseful. The story pulled me in and I can't wait to see what's in store. I also have some feedback for the team on the gameplay. I played on Steam Deck since I have a Macbook and a Mac version wasn't available. The game is playable on the Steam Deck, but not perfect. Selecting options (either choices or to click on items) on the screen using the D-pad or the thumbstick wouldn't work and sometimes would freeze. I would try to use the touchscreen or the trackpad, but that wouldn't work either. I would save my game and reload it and it would work but it would take me back a bit. To progress through the dialogue, you press the A button. When I'd be doing that, a choice would come up and it would select one for me despite me not intending to pick that choice; I didn't know a choice would come up and had been reading the text. This happened in the Run Away or Go Into the Workshop choices, Mom or Dad, and the Wrestle the Monster or Use the Keys choices. It automatically chose Run Away, Mom, and Use the Keys. Looking at the store page and realizing that there were prompts I didn't physically select such as "Pet the cat" because progressing the dialogue did it for me. In addition, I couldn't read the dictionary entries (highlighted in purple). I only managed to read one once and couldn't figure out how to do it again. Navigating the settings on the Steam Deck could be smoother. I had to use the touchscreen instead of the D-pad or thumbstick to select my settings. Once, despite me hitting "Apply" the settings reset to the defaults when I opened my save file. I don't know if that's a bug or if it was on my end, though. As for the text itself, there were some typos and times when the English audio didn't match the written text. Even though I just finished episode one, I'm definitely going to go back and explore the different choices. I can't wait for future developments and to learn what the other characters besides Eva see on the tape. You've done a fantastic job with this project. Keep going! Additional text: I went back to the game to make different choices. If you're playing on a Steam Deck, Valve's default layout is Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad but I had a much smoother experience using the Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse layout. It's not perfect but it's better. However, the game would freeze at unpredictable points and I would need to close the game. Something to keep in mind.
tl;dr worth your time, had a blast. issa great indie horror VN. Dark. Gorgeous art by a single artist, nice OST, 10.99 might seem steep but its not just this episode, there will be five total so I believe it will totally be worth it. to preface, im not a visual novel fangirl, I just saw this in my discovery feed(?) and impulsively got it cuz it had vibes & after tryin it out, daMN. It starts off slow but once you get to the arcade, oohwee, I was absorbed. The art style is gorgeous. Some of the voice acting is kinda OTT but I honestly think its purposeful and suits the tone of the story. A lot of horror (of the era this is set in and in general, tbh) does tend to be so as well as lean into the stereotype thing (rich girl, smart girl, nerd, jock.) I quickly developed a favorite (although it looks like each episode will prolly be diving into each main character of the friend group's perspective after a certain, pivotal part. The writing is entertaining, albeit at times a little, cheesy or maybe, not 100% seeming to suit how the character might feel at the time
after the painting scene as eva is escaping the workshop, she is yelling for her father and a line of her internal monologue in between spoken panic and being chased by an abomination is "daddy's usually catching some Zs around this time" which was so incongruous to the situation that it made me giggle
A lot of things though, I could see as a possible stylistic choice as kind of a satire on horror of that time. who knows what the developers intentions are? regardless, i am very glad i bought it. my add brain has me losing interest in game 10 m in sometimes and this I actually finished (& even went back and made different choices for different branching paths even) so that's a big W in my book.
The Phenomenal Art Direction and Story fit the 1989 Aesthetic. It's like if Telltale Games followed through on their promise of making a Stranger Things Game. And on top of it all, each choice- no matter how insignificant it may seem- will lead to a completely different playthrough. Something as simple as choosing which prize you want at a counter to trying to save one of three family members. It's important to note that the QTE events only work for the typical Up/Down/Left/Right keys instead of WASD. I learned that the hard way. I look forward to where this story will lead. The ball's in your court, host.
Visually, this game punches above its price tag, the art is really really good. Where I think it falls a little short is the writing - the narration doesn't always match the voiced lines (which are perfectly fine, just not exceptional) or the tone of the scene (e.g. a character might be in the middle of a tense action or horror moment, but the prose would go on and on, which can really break tension). The music does a great job at enhancing the mood without being distracting. With only, what, 10-20% of the game available in EA, I can already see what feels like a few meaningful different paths, and quite a few scenes one can miss, which makes it feel like it's going to be pretty replayable. For QOL features, I would looove some kind of decision tree, or flow chart, or at the very least chapter select, so I don't have to save-scum or replay the entire game when I want to try out different paths. The skip feature could be a little better too, right now it gets un-toggled sometimes when I hit certain animations or "inspect all the objects" scenes. But overall, looks promising and plan on playing the full release! (Even if I am bad at Pac-Man, apparently...)
