About
Pilo and the Holobook is an exploration-based adventure game set in a colorful galaxy where you guide Pilo, an apprentice explorer, on a journey to document the universe’s wonders and solve mysteries. Using the Holobook, a powerful encyclopedia-like tool, Pilo collects stickers to record his discoveries and uncover the story behind a mysterious dark force known as the Tar.

Set in the mystical XOP-642 star system, players guide Pilo through vibrant, hand-painted worlds filled with strange creatures and ecosystems. Each planet is teeming with unique flora and fauna to discover. Instead of combat, Pilo uses observation and creativity to explore these planets, collecting valuable knowledge through the Holobook.

The Holobook serves as your main tool throughout the journey. Players use it to interact with the environment and creatures, turning their findings into collectible stickers that populate an ever-growing encyclopedia. These stickers record your progress, unlock new abilities, and help solve environmental puzzles.

An ominous, mysterious substance called the Tar has begun to spread across the galaxy, threatening the beautiful worlds Pilo explores. Along the journey, players will uncover the origins of the Tar and work to save the planets from its corruption. The Holobook can also temporarily repel the Tar, allowing deeper exploration and interaction with affected creatures.

Pilo and the Holobook emphasize creativity, kindness, and curiosity over combat. The game encourages peaceful problem-solving and compassion as Pilo helps the creatures affected by the Tar and works to restore balance to the galaxy.

Extremely buggy. On second start the game breaks. Language switches to French/ German. Can't change any settings anymore. Dialog unavailable. Very poorly made.
Cute little game, perfect to relax and sometimes solve some puzzles. Some are a bit hard but give you "aha!" reaction when you solve it, most are relatively easy, if you are paying attention to details Not sure i can recommend it for a full price (maybe if the game would be longer and would allow up to teleport back to the ship instead of walking there all the time) but on a discount it's totally worth to play for a few evenings.
Just finished this game, and I loved it. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing experience with some light puzzle challenges. The art is absolutely beautiful. Simply walking around and taking in the environment was a really enjoyable experience. From a gameplay perspective, I really liked the puzzles. They’re not overly complicated, but they still require you to pay attention and remember what you’ve seen. Some are a bit more challenging, and it’s very satisfying to solve them. Thanks for this experience. It’s about three hours of genuinely great gameplay.
An adorable game where you turn everything into stickers. Good for relaxing at times and trying to make your brain work the other. The expressions on the fox's face were really something... That and I got stuck near the West and North borders of the desert twice. Lol. The game allowed me to explore that which I shouldn't... After the AutoSave failed and made me re-do my sticker collection in one part, I made sure to get 99% Achievements only. This way, the Achievement Hunters and Perfectionists can be very, very disappointed in my ways of playing. The game's alright. It's fine.
What a beautiful game! It was HIGHLY satisfying making stickers out of everything. I had some trouble finding a couple things but overall a great game! Easy to get all achievements.
This cozy game is a completionist's DREAM, and so beautifully illustrated! The bits of voice acting give it a nice touch, but the star of the show is definitely the hand-painted imagery and the adorable stickers. The only thing I didn't love about it was the desert biome but that's just me being nitpicky about the boundaries and how they were enforced. All in all, a solid cozy game with gorgeous visuals, and a sad story that draws you in.
Pilo and the Holobook
Cute French game with a unique gameplay, If you like the wholesome genre this is for you! There’s no combat, it’s mostly exploration, using your Holobook gives you the ability to scan and catalogue your discoveries on the planets. It also helps you get rid of Tar later on. It’s a sweet story. The art style is beautiful and so colourful, I love it! Btw for anyone wondering, you can get the fast fishing achievement even after scanning the fish for the first time, it’s not missable, you do not need to start a new game! There’s something I would change in the game though and honestly it’s just me being picky, but everytime we use the spaceship, we have to go back to the main area which makes it repetitive. It would be best if we could control the spaceship so we can go to any planets straight away instead. It plays wonderfully on Steam Deck! Please Make Pilo 2 !
good game
