About
Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered pharaoh.

Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.
Ensure your city is prosperous enough to deal with economic or political crises, or even plundering by enemies. A pharaoh takes care of its people and does whatever it can to earn the favour of the gods.

Pharaoh™: A New Era celebrates 20 years since the release of the famous franchise with a complete remake, including more than 50 playable missions and over 100 hours of gameplay.
The "Campaign" mode teaches you the game basics while allowing you to experience a unique story in the heart of Ancient Egypt. Explore all aspects of life in a thriving city, build and manage all its fundamental elements to ensure it flourishes: the economy, internal and external trade, culture, health, agriculture, education, etc.

The journey back in time is really brought to life with this new version, which upgrades the gameplay mechanics to modern standards and completely redesigns the captivating soundtrack and gorgeous isometric 2D graphics.

Absolutely not playable. When it first came out I could at least start the game and try to play it but today I was just stuck in menu twice. Lagging like hell and game just stops working only by me clicking options button or start game and forcing me to hard restart the computer. Kind of waste of money if you can't even play the game.
Lots of fun just like I remember it being. Haven't encountered any crazy glitches as of yet and I've put close to 100 hours in. Worth a buy if you want a fun city builder with cool Egyptian music. I understand other people's irritation that military was removed, but finagling my armies across a river to deal with a Beduin invasion every 3 minutes got old in the original fast, I appreciate the streamlined process of this one, especially since the original is still available on steam for pretty cheap if that's a dealbreaker.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I remember the old game. Grew up with it. So i expected to meet the same quality or better with a remake of it so long after the original Pharaoh game. Bought it on release, played 20 minutes, refunded. Now, i got it back through Humble Bundle Monthly, gave it another try. Still can't recommend that game. The cartoon version of the characters/animals is already a big yikes for me, but once you're focused on dealing with the city, you ignore that detail. My biggest complain is the UI and the way they changed the controls to make it so annoying to do anything or get any info. I shouldn't have to click 4 differents icons to check on the gods. I should be able to close some menus with escape. I shouldn't have to go left and right to juggle between the different menus and infos. I haven't reached the old missions where you had to defend yourself against invaders while trying to gather and send ressources to the Pharaoh, but from reading the forum, i guess those missions don't exist anymore as they were, since the fights are now basically gone ? For people looking at this game for the nostalgia, forget about it. For those that never played the original ? Skip this one. You'll have better fun with getting the old ones on steam and using some of the community options/mods to make it playable with bigger screens. I'll keep playing this one whenever i'm bored and want to remember myself that remake are clearly not a good thing, most of the time. I just hope that if some studio decide to remake Zeus and other old gold gems like those, they'll do a better job than this below than average joke.
I can't say it's bad. I've played several missions, and like scalability, some graphics. BUT. The gods portraits are no match to what it was. The UI is so generic "modern" "clean" void. Just compare the new IU, buttons, panels with the old ones, where buildings were under hieroglyph-like buttons, text was on panels which looked clay tablets etc. If there would be an option to revert to the old style of buttons, ledgers and the rest of the UI, I would give a positive review. But now it just doesn't have a feel or an atmosphere of the old game about old Egypt. It looks like a generic mobile app. Oh, I really dislike these buttons. Please, bring back the old UI. Also now there is no warfare. In the old game the enemy invaded your land, wandered across your city and tried to destroy your property. And you saw, how your archers from towers kill the enemies, and moved your colons of charriots towards him. Now it all is gone, and no one will come to smash your city, and building walls has no value and interest.
missing some features here and there from the old game, but also changes entirely how the battles happen in the game. (no on map troop movement.) So if you weren't in it for that and fighting predators this would be a great remake... hopefully they do the same for Zeus (which was my fav of the two)
Many issues that the developers are not addressing. One must download a mod pack to resolve. Why are the developers ignoring the issues built into the game. Why no updates on this game from the developers?
Nostalgia but is disappointing i used to have the original on CD and played it lots but this new one not so good feel like dropping it after just a few hrs
It takes days for me to complete 1 mission even if i play somewhere between 4-5 hours a day. The game is about managing given resources and utilising them effectively to achieve your objectives. I love this game and It is very addictive, Time flies if i start playing this game. I would definitely recommend this game.
