A turn-based RPG that goes from cheery fantasy to not-so-cheery sci-fi, hopefully with the feel of something straight outta the '90s

Strong bias here, considering the game's author is a friend, but seriously, if you have love for the 80' and 90' JRPGs, PSRO is worth a try. It's filled to the BRIM with love and care. Check everything out, see the world through Zemi's eyes: Dan has been pouring his soul in there. Day one release. The game has lots of bugs, as can be expected of a one-man project thing. Stick around, report bugs and see this beautiful project grow.

I have played and finished Phantasy Star I, II, III and IV in their original format: SEGA Master System and Genesis. The main theme sounds very much like the one from Phantasy Star IV. The music at Zemi's home sounds very similar to Phantasy Star III for Rhys's beginning in Landen.
Neşeli fanteziden pek de neşeli olmayan bilimkurguya uzanan, 90'lardan kalma bir his uyandıracağını umduğumuz sıra tabanlı bir RPG
"Phantasy Series Reference Opus" is a pointless demo, the first chapter of an abandoned series of badly made 2D retro pixel JRPG ripoffs (possibly kitbashed with RPG Maker or some other construction kit... either way the quality is deplorably bad). Similar to RPG Maker asset flips, the weak game engine is coupled with cringey high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing, and the whole thing has no value whatsoever as a game to gamers. Which explains the dismal reception for this failed demo. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Fantastic game so far. This game is ideal for the people who like - Turn Based RPGs - pixel style - old retro classics The game has real strong attention to detail within the - Story - Enemies that you fight - Mini-game (only one for now as far as I am aware but still very well made) - Areas that change as you progress - Music When you play this, I would recommend being very observant of your surroundings because there are plenty of hidden chests scattered around each area and some secretly well hidden Pay attention to what the NPCs say because sometimes that info will help you out immensely. I definitely recommend giving it a go to anyone who just wants to play a free game because honestly this is worth it, I even decided to jump straight into Hard mode and lets say it has been quite the tough challenge so far.. A game with actual proper difficulty.
Great gem of a game. I've played the PS series 1 - 4 and I thoroughly enjoyed PSRO. Good music, graphics, and game play. The story was nicely written and I enjoyed the humorous references. I only have two real complaints. 1) I wish it was longer (I know I know there's more to come hopefully), 2) Without spoiling anything for the potential reader, the "Trigger" to move the story forward towards the final few events wasn't particularly obvious. I spent some time unnecessarily backtracking to areas I had previously explored because I had run out of ideas on what to do next. I almost thought something had "bugged out" with the game and left me locked into an immovable part of the story. Besides those two gripes, I highly recommend PSRO. If you're a fan of old school JRPG's from the 16-bit era then you'll love this.
1) Jumped straight into hard mode, and was pleasantly surprised with the difficulty balances. Managed to finish chapter one without changing the difficulty or cheat - perfect pacing for hard mode. 2) Story, OST, hidden/extra features excellent. Creator did indeed pay a lot of attention to these details. 3) Slightly concerned with certain parts of the game, however, pertaining to the last boss of chapter one and how meme-y it felt with references to a certain movie/anime. As a Phantasy Star fan, i would prefer a less meme-y aspect to the boss and playable characters. Also certain dialogues and phrasing of words felt a little childish when discussing main plot, though that's just probably my opinion. 4) Minor bugs such as the soft lockout still continuing to be there (esp if run from battle or near chest, causing chest to open and chars just get stuck) but those are easily remedied with a reset or bug fixing patches in the future. Overall, looking forward to future chapters of the game! it is certainly a good entertainment for any Phantasy Star fans looking for more content!
Solid ode to Phantasy Star 4! I loved that game growing up and it was my favorite of the Phantasy Star series with great graphics and music and an awesome battle interface. This dev did a solid job and I hope he can continue because this is a teaser.
