The steam desciption says the game needs 6 GB of hard disk space - actually it eats up 26 GB! GPU load is always 100%. Game chrashed in the tutorial after 13 minutes of play time (version 0.65, September 2021) I applied for a refund, even if I had bought it at 90% discount.
What struck me most about Pest Control is the trap creation system, solid and deep, considering that the game is in a very immature early access phase, I can say that it is very promising. Below you will find our video, with a first look at the game mechanics. https://youtu.be/H4FPSDVd-dg
The developers did the impossible. Pest Control is very cute and addicting game. A very interesting idea and turn-based missions make you want to play more and more. See my review for more details. I really like the premise of this game! It’s got a fun and intriguing story to it! The graphics are really good! Once I figured out how to craft new traps, it was great! There are so many unique ways to get those pests!!! Bring a big hammer and crush the rodents, but that isn’t effective against wasps....what will you do??? How about craft some big spray! Very cool game overall! I wouldn’t recommend streaming it until you’re familiar with it though because it takes a bit of time to learn everything you need to know to effectively play it. Once you learn it, stream the heck out of it!
Poor game. The quality would be acceptable for early access, but certainly not for a fully released game. The tutorial is not helpful, it just displays all the information at once, plus it's not very clear. Then you'll very often not understand what is happening and what you're supposed to do. I haven't been able to complete a single level, because the game always gets somehow stuck and doesn't let me do anything. Avoid this game. At least for now.
Pest Control is an overall nicely executed effort to combine what it sets out to combine in its description - a simulator and a turn-based tactical game, especially when you consider all the improvements and new features since early access. On the one hand, you've got your tactical maps that throw you back to the typical games of the genre with their possibility of coordinating the moves and attacks of your character through action points. I'm missing the opportunity to lead an entire squad of exterminators into action. Maybe I'm not far enough into the game for that, but it would be fun to do right from the start. What keeps things interesting there, though, is the variety of actions and strategies you can use, not only through sneaking, walking and running, but also thanks to the different items available in the game - types of weapons, traps, utilities, healing, and so on. Away from the tactical maps, you've got the HQ that fills the game's business/management side of the game with crafting, research, training, trade and more. The fact that you have to take up jobs and perform actions in your HQ within a time frame is a good addition to its management aspect. There's plenty to choose between in the time you have available, so I got to enjoy a little decision-making in the process. The tutorial was a godsend and new players are going to need it, so just go through the tooltips quickly to find out what you need to do in the game. It's not that complicated, but in the end it still feels like Pest Control is throwing you in the deep end of the pool, so I recommend crafting a rodentex spray bottle even before you take up the first job - otherwise the pace will feel a little slow if you just fight the rats with your hammer. Pest Control's stylised cartoony art has a nice quality to it and gives the game a unique charm. The advertised variety of content, both story-wise and in gameplay. Pest Control is generally a solid choice if you're looking to pass some time with a whacky new tactical/management game.
This would be my first review actually for real so.... I will go straight to the point, the game has potential. It's understandable that the game has still many issues but I want to believe devs will make it better. Music is good Gameplay is fine, Easy to learn / Hard to master. HUD is fine Art is fine Graphics is decent. Price: ☑ If it is on sale. Bugs: ☑ Some bugs. My issues for now: > too laggy (default setting, i run tx1050, core i5 7th gen when i played this) >I had issues about alt tabbing/switching app, it's hard. > It takes so much time to end the contract (or maybe just for me since I'm not an turn-based tactics/tactical rpg expert) My only problem of tutorials is that they just stuffed it there everything. Maybe it will be better if the tutorial will only shows up whenever you do something for the first time like visiting the market, or when nighttime reached and etc. Is Pest Control worth it? As of now only if it is on sale I will give it 6/10 I will leave it as recommended cause it passed my standard (6/10) But I hope people would consider before buying this. If you don't play this kind of genre and you want to try it, find some other game.
Very fun game and still getting updated

It's hard to recommend this game when it feels so clunky. The tutorial doesn't help. You really don't know what you're doing. Progression seems really weird. In hindsight, likely not something I would have bought had I played a demo. Very unfortunate as I was looking forward to playing this, but it just doesn't work.
