New Citizen - Alpha

The developer of this game (Tanner) is a liar and a thief. In 2020 I hired him to start contract work on my game. He assured me within a few days he would have something to show. Months later after many delays and excuses he ended up ghosting me and running off with my money. Granted it was only $150 but he still took my money and delivered nothing. Do not trust this developer or anyone who associates with them, you will be taken advantage of. You are a bad person Tanner and I will never let you forget it as long as you still owe me my money. Also the game is equivalent to drinking dog water out of a dumpster fire.

Well, this easily one of the most egregious Early Access games I have seen in a while. $35 for what is, in the game's own words, "A Playable Tech Demo". There is nothing to do. The systems don't work or don't even exist. The world is empty, lifeless, pointless and just a bunch of nothing. Even the EA pitch is wild because the intended experience includes up to 32 players per server being NPCs for other players. The idea that the modding community should come in and help make this game is crazy. No one is going to buy this, and then feel invested enough to want to then spend their free time modding it. Nothing on the store page leads me to believe that the game will ever be anything other than an empty asset map. Take the game off Steam. Actually turn it into something people might want to play. Alpha. But it should be playable at least. The frame rate is crap, even at the lowest settings. Don't publish a game, when it's unplayable. It might run alright, if you have a high-end pc. My pc is a few years old, still i can run pretty much every newly released game smoothly, even if i have to lower a few options, like shadows. Not with this one. It's a slideshow.

Everything in the game is either broken or janky, stuff that should sync doesn't, and I fell out the map, 3/10.

After spending over 100 hours playing New Citizen, here’s my review. As of the time of writing, the current version of the game is 0.0.2, according to the in-game main menu. What I can confidently say is that New Citizen has evolved in a very positive way. Most of the major issues, such as input delay on vehicles, limited map size, and lack of jobs, have been addressed. Now, the game offers a wide variety of jobs, and the map is significantly larger compared to the early days. The input delay has been fixed, but vehicle physics still feel a bit off. That said, the game is still a lot of fun to play. However, there’s still room for improvement to make it perfect. Areas like optimization, player interactions, and features like robberies could use further development.

Je suis profondément déçu par mon expérience avec le jeu New Citizen. Après avoir investi 18€, j'ai été surpris de constater que le jeu semblait dater des années 2010, rappelant des titres comme Garry's Mod, ce qui ne correspondait pas à mes attentes. Cette déception fait écho à celle ressentie avec d'autres jeux ambitieux mais inaboutis, tels qu'Identity et Onset, qui ont également promis beaucoup sans jamais véritablement livrer. Mon mécontentement réside principalement dans la réalité que New Citizen, tout comme certains de ses prédécesseurs, est vendu en accès anticipé sans jamais atteindre un état de développement complet ou satisfaisant. Il est regrettable de constater que la norme qui prévalait en 2010, où les jeux étaient vendus finis ou bénéficiaient de mises à jour significatives après leur sortie, semble avoir été abandonnée. En conséquence, je me vois contraint de donner une évaluation négative à New Citizen. Il est décevant de voir se répéter un schéma où les attentes des joueurs ne sont pas rencontrées, et où le potentiel de jeux prometteurs est gâché par une réalisation insuffisante. Das Spiel New Citizen ist mir auf Steam Vorgeschlagen worden. Ich habe Das Spiel jetzt nicht lange gespielt, jedoch ist das, was man für 24,50€?! echt der Witz. Angefangen von Fahrzeugen die beim Lenken 20 Sekunden brauchen um zu Realisieren in welche Richtung ICH als Spieler Fahren möchte ist schon extrem Schwierig. Ich bin nun nicht im Besitz eines Aktuellen High-End Pc´s, jedoch ist es schon echt Traurig, das ein Spiel was 3 Jahre in Entwicklung war bis jetzt, nichts Bietet. Es gibt viele andere Spiele die Kürzer in Entwicklung sind und noch Entwickelt werden, wo man mit Eindeutig viel mehr FPS hat, in weit aus einer größeren Spielwelt.
