The two things this game has going for it are the unique art style and combat (using the analog stick to charge up and releasing at the perfect time for a critical hit is a novel idea, and I think it was done well). The rest is so very meh and downright frustrating. Some bosses have little to no telegraphing on their moves and vague patterns that you're essentially gotcha'd into many deaths that feel unfair. Additionally, in a lot of the boss fights you're just standing around waiting for something to happen. There's a lot of downtime in certain fights which leads to disengagement and loss of immersion. Boss hitboxes and animations often feel like they don't match up. In some instances, bosses that have a particular move will be given a hitbox/animation that is much larger depending on whether they're parallel or horizontal to the plane which is a consequence of utilizing an isometric angle. I'm not a huge fan of the isometric angle due to the inconsistencies. There are also platforming sections that feel really mushy to run through due to the isometric angle, I really didn't like those. The "true" final boss fight is essentially an RNG-fest, it's really up to the game whether or not you win based on what it decides to do. In the same vein, the final boss fight was my favorite fight visually which is interesting to note due to the unique art style of the game. If you're a fan of OHKO boss rush games you'll likely enjoy this, but this one just wasn't for me. Left me more frustrated than pleased after beating it.
This game has no right to be this good wtf Dark fantasy ✅ Awesome boss design ✅ Unique and fun combat system ✅ Pleasant charm and atmosphere ✅ Thank you for making this game
First souls-like to have actually reasonable difficulty instead of making me wanna jump off a cliff? AND with a fun gameplay loop? It's more likely than you think. Game slaps.
lots of fun in both duo and solo modes, challenging bosses, amazing art style and pleasant music love it!!
Still need to finish this with my buddy but this game has a lot of charm. The art, the music and the gameplay itself is a unique feeling experience that you luckily get to have with a friend. The atmosphere and world building is done expertly and I can't wait to explore it more. Highly recommend this game but do know it will be a challenging adventure, but a fun one at least.
This is a really lovely experience from top to bottom. The combat is unique and the atmosphere, art direction, and music is absolutely superb. Very charming and beautiful in a Hollownest/Yharnam kind of way. If you like Dark Souls and Hollowknight, you'll love this game. It can extremely grueling, especially on co-op mode (the game scales up with 2 players), so it isn't for everyone. I'm pretty darn good at video games and even I had a lot of strife with this one but the world building alone was enough for me to keep coming back to punish myself. Overall, it's nothing short of a triumph for this small dev and I look forward to what they do next. 7.5/10
прошёл и остался невероятно довольным! сюжет, геймплей, боссы просто сок! разрабам респект и хотелбы увидеть от них ещё один шедевр, но не продолжение, а именно новую игру!
What a game, I went in expecting a boss rushy little combat game, but was sold immediately on both the atmosphere and the tone, it really exceeded my expectations and then some, rarely do I pick up a game and blaze through it in a weekend anymore, but it captivated me in a way not many games do the combat felt tight and responsive, along with being customizable through the various buff you could assess. The soundtrack is perfect for the story it tells, its witty and humorous without being over the top, heartfelt and somber when it needs to be. I loved it. GG's to the devs, look forward to what comes next
its like hollow knight but more depressive...its great
