I adore this game. I'm normally very hesitant about buying English VNs as they often feel overly hammy or forced compared to their Japanese counterparts, but Perceptions nails it. The setting's unique, with enough details to hook you in but enough mysteries to keep you wondering. The cast is the real star, though, as all of the main 5 are super memorable characters with some great interactions. And the voice acting, good lord. It's phenomenal and adds so much life to the characters. There's none of the stiffness of voice or writing that a lot of other English VNs have. Something else I think worth pointing out - I'm normally a fan of the "dollar per hour" rule, but I think that Perceptions is high quality enough that it's more than worth it at full price. The additional stories added in over time have been great at flushing out the characters, as well as Garage Reverie dealing with some heavier topics through nuanced and careful, yet realistic writing. I've come back every few months just to re-read that one because it puts me in a good headspace to deal with the rest of the world. Can't recommend it highly enough.
I loved the story and the characters. I'm looking forward to another chapter, brah.
Um dos Graphic Novel mais legal que ja joguei!
Properly, properly amazing. I loved the first Perceptions of the Dead and Ithaqua Labs' sequel is twice as good. Beautiful and heartwarming and dramatic and thrilling and above all, absolutely hilarious! It's quite rare to find VNs where every joke lands. Pretty much everything has already been said in other reviews, but I will mention the lack of interior monologues in PotD2: narration is minimal, with nearly all lines being (fully-voiced) dialogue, which is a real plus. The dialogue absolutely sparks, thanks to great writing and brilliant voice actors, and works so much better than the stuffy, angst-ridden monologues I find myself trawling through in other VNs. Thanks so much, Ithaqua Labs! I think this may just be my favourite VN.
This game is absolutely great, filled with fun characters and interesting world. I haven't even beaten it yet but I hope they will one day make a third. The art is stylish and lovely, the voice acting immaculate and hilarious when it needs to be. The music is perfectly timed and well themed.
Please make another game!!! I really really really don't want these wonderful characters out of my life!
This is probably the most delightful visual novel series I've ever experienced. It uses the tried and true formula of introducing stock characters and fleshing them out over time. The writing is generally good, if a little too reliant on pop culture references in the second act. The actors knock every line out of the park; it may be the best voice acting I've heard in an indie game. I strongly recommend it, and hope the series becomes a trilogy. It feels like there is room in the lore to crank out one or two more games.
Very good game, the 4th story could have been longer, but other than that perfect.
kinda buggy, but awesome?. it wont let open in fullscreen, but it lets you re-size the window view so its not much of a problem. the story is an absolute banger, or as owen would say "its like super rad brah" awesome world building and a good opener for a next chapter a bit of an anticlimatic ending tho but that is overpowered by the cliffhanger about marcus family. it sorta remind me of scooby doo mistery inc? but also series like gravitty falls and under the dome... some how? over all a solid 8/10
