I tend to buy most games like this that are $2-5 and beat them it gives me a kinda old flash game vibe I enjoy. This one is a lot like Nodebuster with a different progress tree, I enjoyed the game and beat it in about 2 hours I do recommend it if you looking for another Nodebuster kinda game or just a quick fix for a new incremental game.
Pentavolt is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers, DIG Games. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab. This is a minimalist quasi-autobattler/ripoff of Vampire Survivors, a minimum effort amateur shovelware/Flash tier game that DIG Games got their hands on and published alongside their other asset flips. Instead of autoattacks you need to go rub your minimalist polygon on the enemies so they drop "xp" for upgrades. The upgrades happen between rounds instead of during runs, otherwise this is basically a mush worse ripoff of Poncle's game. DIG Games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features some of the laziest, most minimalist "art" you're likely to see outside of a low effort Flash or browser game. This is supposed to be a PC game but it looks worse than primitive 3D games of the 1990s. When developers are lazy/untalented and the graphics are phoned in this badly, you end up with stuff like this that doesn't meet basic visual quality standards. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2026 (and this was released not so far back in 2025), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware. Those technical issues put this game beneath what is expected from a contemporary, professionally developed PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Next is pricing and value. Is this game worth buying from among the 140,000+ games on Steam? Pentavolt is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. There's enough defects and quality problems with this game that it's not worth recommending to gamers, but the unethical nature of the developer/their associates makes it completely impossible.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Fun little incremental game that gets better as you progress. Enjoyed the chain reactions happening on the screen and the non-grindy ending!
