Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/irlp1pz0BxI This is a neutral recommendation. This is an on-rails FPS / gallery shooter. There are 9 levels, plus a boss fight level. You have two handguns & two magic spells you can use (a shield & an AOE lightning spell). You can also upgrade your health, power, shooting speed, & magazine storage. There are quite a variety of enemies with different abilities, especially the further you get. Unfortunately, the level layouts all look pretty similar. The game does turn into a grindfest for getting upgrades if you're not an eagle-eyed quickshot. You reload by putting your arms down, if you let your weapon run out of ammo and do an auto-reload, it takes much longer to reload. You can do a magic spell by making a quick gesture up or to the side. You shoot explosive barrels for maximum damage. The strategy pretty much remains the same. Quickly shoot high-value taregets, reload strategically, shoot explosive barrels any time that you can, & save those spells for critical moments & hope you get a health pickup at the right time. Otherwise, you will have to grind out money to get upgrades to be able to get past the level. I would estimate it would take most people over 2 hours to grind out all the levels. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting mostly 90 fps, however, fps would drop all the way down to 45 fps, which should never happen in this type of game. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. It is annoying when you press trigger and your gun doesn't shoot because of the "shooting speed" mechanic. Overall, I would say this game is mid. I think Drop Dead VR is still the best on-rails / gallery shooter in VR. That is an Oculus Rift exlusive back from 2017 (it made its way unto Quest in 2019). When you compare Peace Maker to the best, it pales in comparison. It's just too basic. Too grindy. I gave up after the 7th level & being in 4th place on the global leaderboard ... I just didn't want to grind out more levels. Rate 5/10.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. Does NOT support Valve Index! Why do you even sell this on Steam if it's an Oculus-Exclusive anyway? Wasted 10 bucks because of this... Game is propably quite fun, from the looks of it but unfortunately I can't try it out. Refund was not possible since it was purchased more than 2 weeks ago despite only 1 minute of playtime at that point. Didn't came around to try it out for nearly 4 weeks because of other recently aquired titles. It wasn't a rip off but it definitely felt like one....
Lustiges Spiel, macht sehr viel Spaß !!!
'Peace Maker VR' is an on-rails shooter'em up in which you are given two guns and a chariot, you then race across 9 levels trying to kill anything that moves and just survive till the end to unlock the next level. With its cel-shaded graphics, it looks pretty good most of the time, but I did find the scenery whips past a little too fast to see anything, but that also adds to the fast pace of the game. While the gameplay does get a little repetitive there is always a world-score chart to try and better yourself as you will find the 9 levels don't last long at all, but you can unlock more ammo, health and damage as you go along. It's not a bad game at all and I admit I had fun playing it, but that fun doesn't last long enough to justify the £10.29 asking price, but it is still in Early Access I suppose. While it's not exactly original, nor will it hold your interest for very long I do still give it the thumbs up. There are worse ways to spend a tenner and there is plenty of room for the game to grow over time. Do checkout my gameplay video here - https://youtu.be/O5kKsD6kfxA
I look forward to the update
