Path to Prosperity has you taking over control of a small port and building it into something profitable. You can build mines, quarries, lumber mills and more. All to generate resources that you sell to ships as they enter your port. There are many ways to make money, you can stay focused on Mining Stone or branch out into more avenues, if you so desire. You have to feed and shelter your workers, along with defending your port from pirates and other raiders. All in the prospect of making gold to send back to the Queen, which will unlock access to rare items, and win you the game. I like the freedom of building the port to your own specifications and managing the people and resources. You can feel the small indie team charm in this one, but with that also comes the lack of some ease of use or common functionality that you might expect from a bigger budget game. For being an early access title made by a small indie team, it has a solid foundation that is very playable. If you think it might be something you would enjoy, I highly recommend you check it out and support Essence Games. A very ungainly and awkward first-person rts. Movement is tedious, interactions feel terrible, combat is so inaccurate your best best is to just sprint towards foes and shoot them at point blank, the production chains are boring, no music, flat boring art, etc. Not worth $15 by a long stretch, it definitely feels like you're paying to let someone learn how to code their first or second game in unity.
I would really like to leave a positive review, since in theory it's a great game, but at its current state it's just not worth it. There are way too many bugs (clipping in a door and getting stuck, not able to remove crops from a farm if you destroy them first, villagers getting stuck and can't build/mine if the iron deposit is on the side of a hill), as well as performance issues (6GB memory usage for the small amount of objects in this game is pretty crazy, and lagging on medium graphics settings seems silly). I really hope the devs address these issues, and if so I'll definitely come back to the game, but for now it's just too frustrating to play with all the bugs. Edit - Seems as though the devs really want to make this a good game and are interested in feedback, that's enough for me to change my view. On to Prosperity!
This is a great concept and a great start for a early access game. Interesting setup and time in history to kick it off. Decent game play and easy to understand mechanics and economy. Great game for relaxing and building a community of settlers. Just a hour in but I enjoy it. As it expands it will just get better.
its early! Buggy and such.. BUT A MOUNTAIN OF POTENTIAL LUV EEETT https://youtu.be/Pj4cGUovtBQ?t=181
This game packs a lot more than I thought from watching the trailer. Took me a little while to pick up the mechanics but it looks really promising. I can't wait to explore the maps more and to get a colony going!
A diamond in the rough. It's a bit clunky, but of course it's early access. Pretty fun in it's current state, and I can't wait to see more!
Awesome little game! I'm a fan of first-person gather/craft/build/farm games, but never really explored the RTS genre. This game bridged that gap, balancing the elements of both really well. It doesn't (yet) have the slickness and polish of games from bigger studios, but I found myself devouring the full default 100,000 coin cycle and then thinking about how I would adapt on my next play-through. Overall, it's unique and full of promise! Give it a shot!
A very enjoyable experience, even in the current early access stage. The premise of an RTS in first person is really interesting and, once the towns have been fleshed out more so there is more to do, could become a real time sink for fans of the genre like myself. Pros, thus far; - Tailored game lengths to allow learning and playing at your own speed. - Multiple different building types already implemented to achieve victory the way you so desire. - New take on two established genres which mesh together nicely, even at this early stage. Cons; - The usual early access gripes, limited things to do once played through multiple times. - Town management can be confusing when having to check multiple buildings for stock levels. Although the towns can manage themselves quite easily once set up. I believe it would benefit from a centralised system to check. Overall, a really enjoyable experience and I look forward to where this goes from here on out!
This is soooo addictive!!! I'm having to pry myself away from the screen in order to go out for dinner, but I keep thinking about what I want to do next with my community of villagers! If anyone has even slight OCD tendancies, like I do, good luck not spending hours placing your houses in neat little rows - so satisfying! Could not recommend this game enough.
