Genre
Ein Billiges First Person Horror Point & Click Adventure
Gameplay
Man klickt einfach alles an bis was passiert.
In Paradigm Shift, you are an unnamed man who is looking for his girlfriend in the midst of a virus outbreak; in the game her name is Marcy, on the store page her name is Jenny. The virus has transformed all of the recently deceased into cannibals, or in other words... zombies. The game is a point and click adventure title by Evilized Productions, and it was originally a free iOS title. So, your home town of River Lake has been overrun by zombies thanks to the explosion at the neuroscience laboratory. Your ultimate goal is to make it to a gas station, from your apartment, and get the heck out of dodge; while, hopefully, your girlfriend Marcy/Jenny is able to meet you there. From the trailer and screenshots on the store page, the game looks promisingly dark and grim, and while this is the case, the game is horrendously short and rather boring. The title can be completed in as little as 5-6 minutes. There is no save feature, and the chances of running into a zombie is slim. During my first playthrough I saw two, during my second I saw none. They just pop up randomly, and you kill them with the shotgun that you pick up at the very beginning of the game. There aren't any puzzles to solve, save getting the code for a keypad. The rest is pretty much self explanatory. Although the store page says that there are multiple endings, I could only find one the two times that I played the game, and I couldn't bring myself to continue trying to reach a different ending; there's really no point, and the game is incredibly dull. The final verdict is that Paradigm Shift is a point and click that shows promise on the store page, but ultimately fails in delivering anything substantial. The photo-manipulation artwork is decent to look at, although it is heavy with filters, and the soundtrack is just okay. The storyline is a dime-a-dozen in this day and age, as everything to do with zombies has been ground into the dirt; in this case, it's just extremely generic. The absolute kicker is that there is no actual paradigm shift in the game. The game is pretty well a waste of half an hour total, and it should be avoided. If you're really itching for a great horror point and click experience, try Sanitarium or I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream.
Rating: 0.5/5.0 - Abysmal, avoid it like the plague.
The Horror Network Curator | Group Click for Gore
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8xwARXxWKU The harder I tried to progress further in this game, the more it seemed to make it impossible for me to continue. Random deaths happen if you click the wrong part of the screen, no check point or save system makes you play from the beginning if you die, and glitches like your shotgun suddenly disappearing when facing the little zombie girl, will leave you rage quitting. It's just not fun, nor is the story any good, really.
Not sure about the negative reviews - I decided to play this since it was in my "bucket list". 25min into it, and I really didn't see an issue with the game. I plays more like a hidden object game that a horror game. In short the "infected" actually show up predictably. Especially when you click to much, and try not to back track so much. Get all the clues you can get per scene. i died a lot, I mean A LOT to figure this out. Once you know where to go and what props you need, the infects seem not to bother you. However you will die as you go further unless you are lucky and get the clues right off the bat. And most are pretty simple to figure out. In short the game is very brutal to your mistakes. I actually had fun from what I was playing so far. So I died. pffff, the game is fun. Just have to make sure you go slow and pay attention. Yes that door may kill you instantly or the kill will, but then don't bother those on the next run. It is NOT as bad a people are saying.. Its not easy. But it's not really that bad.
Tags: Adventure - WC - Walk Clicker Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Long list of signs of either poor codesmanship, low effort, or just incompetence. It is a seirously flawed game. Oustanding Issues: +Does not fullscreen at all. Leaves sidebars when maximized. Windows taskbar visible and on top of game's window. +Royalty free sounding classical style audio +Photoshopped photographs as environments +No animations +Very stiff scripting for puzzles and progression order +No way to highlight hotspots and since those are photographs everything is indistinguishable from everything else except from the rare overlaid item. Those overlaid items are often uninteractable. +You can get attacked at random for a horror/slender effect. Sigh. Conclusion: Lack of quality in assets, technical issues, suffocating puzzle design, unclear narrative without early plot hooks. Just avoid.
