[i]Hidden Cats in Spooky Village[/i] is a cozy, relaxing hidden object game developed and published by Nukearts Studio. Like the previous games in the [i]Hidden Cats[/i] series, these adorable, cute cats are hiding all over the Spooky Village and its many buildings and outside places within. You have to find all the feline creatures as well as any other notable people and such. You start out in the Spooky Village, and after finding all of the cats and such in it, you get access to most of the other levels, with the exception being The Crypt, the final level, which requires that you have to 100% complete all the other levels.
The usual gameplay controls are present. With the mouse wheel, you can zoom in and out of scenes. You click on the cats and people with the left mouse button, and you can drag the scene with your mouse. If you get stuck on finding a cat or person, the hint feature is available in the upper left of the screen although you only get a limited number of hints. Lots of Steam achievements are present, and at the time of this review, they count towards a user's global total.

It has been a while since I played a game in this series, and I'm happy that Nukearts Studio released [i]Spooky Village[/i], which feels like an expansion of one of their previous games, [i]Hidden Cats in Spooky Town[/i]. These games are perfect to play at any time of the year and not just for the season that they center upon. XD
As usual, there isn't really a story here, but of course, it's the gameplay that's important. The controls feel very smooth, and I like that they haven't changed. While some of the cats and people can appear really small, thankfully, zooming in helps to find them all. If you get stuck, you can use the hint feature, but if you want to 100% complete the game, it requires that you not use the hint feature at any point. However, it shouldn't dissuade anyone from using it, though. You can always replay a level and try to go for the no hints achievements if you want to use hints on your first playthrough and not rely on a guide. What I like is that on the main level, Spooky Village, areas are lit up in color after you find all of the cats and people there. I wish that was the case for the other levels, but I'm glad that this feature is still present for the main level, at least. All achievements are obtainable in one playthrough, assuming that you don't use the hint feature at any point.
With the art, it is beautiful as always. I love this hand-drawn style that's ever present in these games, and they're very appropriate for giving off that slightly spooky theme, like you're in one of those European villages back when there were rumored to be vampires and werewolves. lol The colors are vibrant and give off just the right amount of contrast.

In regards to the music, gosh, I love the new tracks that are present. They truly give off that vibe of being spooky but having fun at the same time. The tracks are great to listen to as you're going about searching for those cats and people. XD Also, the usual cat meows are present, which helps in finding those cats or letting you know that they've been found.

Would I recommend [i]Hidden Cats in Spooky Village[/i]? If you're looking for a fun and not too short hidden object game in which you have to find cats hiding all over spooky places (but they're not really scary lol) and/or you enjoy getting all those numerous Steam achievements, then it's worth taking a look. [i]Hidden Cats in Spooky Village[/i] is perfect to play at any time of the year, and the price is just about right. Of course, you can wait for a sale, and it's in a couple of Steam bundles.
