Papers, Please

A great classic without a doubt. The apparently repetitive gameplay evolves nicely all the way through, getting more complex and challenging as time goes by. Although the depiction of the job of a border checkpoint inspector isn't very realistic, it does capture frighteningly well the feeling of working for the government and being faced with tough choices where you only get to choose between terrible and even worse—between systems and people. You simply cannot be a hero in Papers, Please. All you can be is a morally gray antihero. The overtly dystopian and cartoonish repressive nature or Arstotzka isn't a historically accurate depiction of life in an Eastern Bloc country in the 80s, but it certainly captures the overall feeling pretty well. The lore is surprisingly deep and interesting and the canon characters unforgettable. Papers, Please has a unique concept and uses it to tell a not so original yet really deep and impactful story, of which you are only partially the author. ———————————————————————— The Ministry of Gaming has reserved a copy of the game for you.
