Checking passports may seem boring, but the story, characters, rules, variations, and document types fill in the gaps. While it does get complex, having a rhythm speeds up the process tremendously. Having to make questionable decisions for the tokens is a part of the job. Real border agents get bribed and harassed too. It is not pretty, but it is true. The keyboard shortcuts (for the stamp and the inspection) massively speed up the process. I experienced zero technical difficulties. No stuttering, freezing or crashing. The game just works.
