Super chill point and click game with very lovely art style and music. Can be finished in 2 hours if you want all achievements. Story is about a lil wombat's journey and you just can't ignore the cuteness of it. <3
very cute, but extremely short point and click walking game with a bit of story and quite a few collectibles. the story is written and voiced at the same time. takes around ~2 hours to complete if going for 100% achievements. if only following the story (& not caring about collectibles) i think you can complete it in... 20-40 minutes? rest of my playtime is idling for card drops. overall i would say it's not really worth it on full price judging by the small amount of playtime you'll get out of it, but i definitely enjoyed my time. so if you can pick it up in a bundle or on a sale, very much recommended if the above description interests you! this also seems like a perfect game for a small child to play as a cute lil wombat and explore.

An adorable wombat walking sim. The only real issue I had with it is that the movement is a bit buggy and I wish you could control the wombat with WASD instead of the mouse. Works fine on Linux with Proton (Proton 4.2-1).
Prrrbbbbt.... As succinctly as possible. I DO recommend this if you are a parent of a very young child AND you buy this on sale. Otherwise, give it a pass. Paperbark is an 18-30 minute playable storybook about a slow-moving wombat exploring the Australian bush. It's unique as an interactive storybook, plus the animations and art style are incredibly charming... and that's about all this has going for it. In Paperbark, you click to explore a foggy landscape and slowly reveal terrain and animals as you do. This style of landscape reveal isn't really in service of anything other than the storybook aesthetic. The one time the text implies they're about to do something unique... nothing happens. The world is seemingly big only because you can't see. The camera is at an inconvenient fixed angle and you often can't see where you're going on top of the already obfuscated landscape. It's even worse because not only are you clicking on invisible areas you can't see, but the pathfinding leaves much to be desired and can cause your wombat to wander in circles. The only indication of where to go is paw prints on the ground. Your goal is to reach the end of the trail to trigger the next part of the story. There's also some extras to collect like a stickerbook, 50 beetles, 15 flowers, and each level has 5 collectible bugs. But... that's not enough for $5. I kind of wonder who this is for. It follows the tone of games like Shelter and Extinction is Forever, but it's extremely short. It might be a fun game for 2-4 year old kids if you really took your time to get every single beetle but I feel there isn't enough content here for anyone, especially not for $9 (or $5 on sale). I was just hoping for a little more. A creative use of the medium. Instead, it's a 15-minute collectathon for $5. I've had a lot more hours and more fun with cheaper games.
Morning Will Find Me
It is a tranquil day. I forage for food within a hollow log; the shade is a welcome comfort on such a sun-drenched afternoon. A waxwing perches nearby. I move closer — it takes flight. I cherish the way the breeze and the chorus of frogs whisper to me from the thicket. And when butterflies alight upon my nose, the tickle makes me twitch. In this small world, there is no urgency. Only the simple grace of being. I have a fondness for flowers. They taste sweet, leaving a perfumed trace upon my tongue. I press on, as though in search of a home. The canopy of trees offers shelter, yet the heat still makes the air shimmer around me. Ha! I have stepped straight into a pile of dung — I reek, and the flies circle eagerly. I shall retreat to the thicket to scrub myself clean. Truth be told, I delight in the sound of my tiny footsteps; they fall in time with the wind, the croaking frogs, the hushed speech of birds. I delight in the mud beneath my feet; it answers me with the smallest splashes — chop, chop. I love the tall grass, the pleasure of being hidden while watching little birds huddled together. I draw near. They take wing. Where am I bound? There are narrow paths that beckon to my curiosity. There are small logs I can nudge and break with my snout. I find more flowers — further sustenance, sweetly scented. At times, I rub myself against a fallen trunk; I feel its roughness against my back, and discover that I can move it, if only a little. I wander in circles, then come to a halt — perfectly still — where the trees rise vast and towering. They shield me from the sun’s glare. I cherish the sharp, pungent scent of eucalyptus, its boughs resting upon the earth. The tall, parched grass carries no fragrance, and yet… I catch another scent. Smoke. This place, once breathing with birdsong and soft air, now trembles with the agitation of the wind. Fire has come. Verdant green has turned to an orange far too fierce, far too hot. I leave tiny tracks behind me, so that others might find their way to escape. The smoke blinds me; the blaze upon the bush sears and suffocates. I scramble for refuge— —and then the rain begins to fall. The fire ceases its hissing. The rain soothes the burning heat. The scent of damp earth reaches my nose, easing the stench of char. My feet no longer burn; instead, they sink into cool, yielding mud that welcomes and comforts me. Much has been scorched, yet I see birds huddled together. The fire did not take everything. I press on. I find a path — well-trodden. Oh. Wait. The entrance to a burrow. I am weary, and I step inside. I settle at the threshold. My eyelids grow heavy. I can still feel the freshness of this home… …and then… zzz. I Hollow log cool shade Butterflies brush my soft nose Time stands quietly II Mud sings underfoot Flowers sweet upon my tongue No path calls my feet III Eucalyptus Dry grass holds no scent at all Smoke enters the air IV Green turns into fire Small tracks show the way to flee Rain cools burning ground V Charred earth, birds still breathe A burrow waits, dark and safe Morning will find me.
Wombat, not panda. Disinformation
This is a very short cozy story of a small wombat's adventure. The graphics is pretty nice, works with the music background and whole atmoshpere. The game control isn't good, it just works and doesn't bother you in 1 and a half hours of playing. I would recommend it as a small break between some big games.
You should play this game if for no other reason than watching a wombat wind up a jump and leap over a log.
Loved all the cute wildlife we got to see! Wish there were more games including Australian wildlife! Really loved the art-style and wholesome story. I found the the controls were a bit clunky though, especially when trying to move the stickers.
