I really wish I could recommend this game, but it's too rough around the edges for me to do so. I love the presentation, and it does scratch that classic first-person dungeon crawler itch, but there are so many better options out there at this point. There are a lot of minor bugs that, while nothing more than annoyances, add up. I had to make sure to save quite often when going back to the main town, as there were plenty of instances where the menu never appeared which forced me to quit out of the game and reload. This happened often enough that it became a bit frustrating to have to deal with. Thankfully I didn't lose much progress due to this, but if you weren't saving often enough you could lose hours of progress. Also, there are around seven achievements that are bugged. This isn't as big a deal for me, but if you're someone who enjoys hunting achievements, you'll never be able to unlock all of them here. I know the game is over twelve years old at this point which could be the cause of some of the odd bugs I encountered, but it's just not worth buying with the state it's in even at the low price point. I hate to say that, I really do. I did enjoy the game, but I simply cannot recommend it. I'm glad I played it and got it out of my backlog, but I doubt I'll ever want to go back to it.

A decent dungeon crawl, with great art work. It has it's flaws but for the price point, it's a great deal.
I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.
it's fun, i enjoyed a few plays of this game. i just downloaded it once more to play some time soon.

Score: 3/5 The Good 1. Novel art style is good overall and surprisingly not hard on the eyes. The shadows can often be janky but doesn't hinder enjoyment that much. 2. Loot/Gear is given to the player frequently from both hand-placed chests/items that can be interacted with in the world, as well as drops from combat. 3. Economy/pricing for a lot of things was pretty reasonable, outside of some of the gear's sell prices. As I approached the middle portion of the game, the scaling lead gold to be dropped at unreasonably high rates making it more about grinding random battles than exploration/careful planning/spending. However, a lot of games are stingy instead, so I'm not that mad about getting rewards that are overly strong. 4. Engaging mystery/narrative, although characters are pretty shallow/bare-bones. The Bad 1. Major combat, balance, scaling, and grinding issues. Some permanent choices are significantly better than others.
Vampire
Huge jumps in effectiveness between tiers of gear, and stat/ability upgrades. Combat is about who has the best standard attacks most of the time. Some abilities won't trigger if the target dies before it goes off, many others will. Enemies get different rules than the player. Wizards in robes will tank more damage than fully armored warriors, because they're in the harder zones/levels. The
third
boss is a huge difficulty spike requiring more grinding than I was willing to put in. I tend to play RPGs for strategic/challenging gameplay, interesting choices/narratives/characters, and exploration. It's got a good mystery/narrative, and rewarding exploration, but these factors were not enough to make up for the tedious gameplay. 2. Audio is good in general. Music was kinda interesting and added to the weird atmosphere of the game, but it loops so often that it became grating. 3. Movement speed is too slow. Combat speed is too slow, for menu navigation (true outside of combat as well) and delays between character turns and for the animations themselves. I couldn't find speed customization options in menus. 4. No volume sliders.
This game was the most transformative experience I have ever had with video games and convinced me to try more indie games and has shaped my gaming preferences more than any other single experience.
Its decent enuf for a thumbs up. I have textures missing in mine though. Walls and ceiling all black all over. These supposed to be shandows? It looks bad. I have latest drivers.
Awesome cheap game, love it
