So, I can't argue as to whether or not it's a downgrade from the first game, which others seem to echo. As for how it stands on its own, it's quite good. It basically does what a good modern interpretation of an old classic should do, reimagine it with new mechanics and aesthetics. [h1]Positives[/h1] + Good soundtrack. + Great positive feedback. + Good aesthetics and graphics. + Boards look different depending on the stage you're playing. [h1]Negatives[/h1] - There's lots of post-processing effects that can clutter the screen and obscure where you are.

I don't know what I was expecting. It's Pac-Man, but braindead and on steroids. Everything is locked to start with and you are forced through a dozen tutorial levels that feel like getting gold stars for eating paint in kindergarten before you can do anything else. Then you unlock score attack levels and have to beat a dozen or so of those to unlock Adventure mode, which is what I wanted to play to begin with. Except it's not really adventure mode and more of a time trial relay race with less than 10 seconds per stage. It was at that point, just over 2 hours in, that I lost interest and wished I could just play the original Pac-Man. Dots are laid out in convenient linear paths, no thinking or strategy required, you just follow the path as fast as possible and then eat the fruit to advance to the next stage. Occasionally, you also have to eat the ghost trains. Rinse and repeat. And the game is so fast, with so many moving things, so many jumpers and teleporters, and so many flashing visuals that it is easy to lose track of the character and I often had to pause and locate myself to keep going. The 10 second "adventure" stages are not fun, and overall game mechanics felt like gimmicks rather than an evolution on the original formula. It is certainly not worth $13.
