Owyn's Adventure

Fun little game, good to kill some time and definitely a reminder to the Gameboy games I used to play. Good sound and music to represent that further. Standard plot-line but in a good way. First playthrough took 24 minutes and got 10/13 Achievements, so not bad. I will be playing it to get the remaining 3 but it's a fast playthrough that it won't even be that much more time put into it. Overall, definitely worth the $2.99 I paid for it! UPDATE: Second playthrough finished and got the last 3 achievements I missed (first train piece, find all the train pieces for the extra heart container, and walk with grandpops to the lift). Also took 24 minutes. Still a good game for the price!

Worth the $3. A short and charming game :) - Great audio design, ie. elevators making a humming sound that feels intune with the animation - Cool pixel visual effects around powerups, explosions, nice attention to detail - Great music, feels reminiscient of Gameboy game soundtrack vibes - Genuinely made me laugh with some of its jokes - Slope movement is janky in a charming / non-frustrating way - Respectful of time. Only takes 30 minutes to beat without collecting the secrets, which is exactly what I wanted!

This is a lovely game. It's "just" a platform game, but there's a lot of dimension to it. You have to go back and forth, up and down to complete each level, so it feels much more dynamic than games where you just walk in one general direction the whole time. Every couple levels the overall theme of the surroundings changes, giving it enough variation to not become boring but without losing the continuity of the storyline. Overall this is a very fun, relaxing and enjoyable game. It's short (I finished my first playthrough in about 40 minutes while trying to take it slowly), but the fact that it's not very repetitive makes it a game you'd want to replay. I just finished my second playthrough to get the achievements I was missing, but I'm sure I'll want to play it again and again. The only "con" I've got right now is very minor glitch. My music cut out once after I died, but I could fix it in the options menu right away. And on dark backgrounds you can't see your hearts very well, but again that's a very minor issue that doesn't really affect gameplay. Even if you don't buy it on sale, this is a steal. It's a unique yet recognizable game that you can play over and over and works for a very large age range. Even if you just play it once, I still think it's worth it. 10/10 recommend.

Nettes kleines Spiel für zwischendurch, das ca eine halbe Stunde dauert. Es spielt sich wie ein altes Gameboy Spiel von früher. Die Grafik ist ganz hübsch dafür, dass sie aus wenigen grün Tönen besteht.

The story is about a boy named Owyn, who's mother sends him to his grandpa to say that the dinner is ready. But this simple task turns into an adventure when Owyn reaches his granpas house and finds a letter, that says the old man has left. On his journey to find his grandpa Owyn has to solve different puzzles and fights against giant snails, bees and moles. The story is short, but sweet. The level and puzzle design is good, but not too challenging. The monochrome, square gameboy-like screen and the 8-bit sounds and graphics give the player a great retro feeling. Luckily the game comes without spongy controlls or a virtually created input lag, which makes the gameplay much more dynamic. And there are also 4 hidden objects that can be found in the world to complete additional achievements. So this game is very well-conceived and the dev made it the best it can be. So if you're looking for a short retro game, that is playable on almost every PC, no matter how old or slow, that gives you the gameboy feeling of your childhood with it's 8-bit graphics and music, but doesn't have the spongy controlls other retro or indie games have, this one is perfect. My only point of critcism is the playtime, that could be a little bit longer.

Considering my name is also Owyn, this beautiful game is OUR adventure of the hassle WE have to endure in order to eat dinner with OUR grandpops. 10/10 - shares my name, great platformer, affordable.
