This is a massive upgrade over old school Descent. The guidebot is now always available via the press of a button. Though I ended up not using it too much because you'll miss a ton of secrets. Motion is very smooth and there are a ton of weapons, though personally I picked a handful that covered most situations and used them almost exclusively. If I had to complain about one thing, most of the secrets are just behind panels that look almost identical to every other panel and their only real give away is boxes on the map just big enough for your ship. As a result, I probably spent most of the time pouring over the map, watching for them. I would have preferred to spent that time actually flying and shooting. Though on the positive side, the map is really good. Holographic, like the new Doom games, but they have to include walls because of 6DOF. Overall, they've extracted the best part of the old Descent games. It's a solid shooter/flight sim if your stomach and brain can handle it.

This is for Descent, it's great !!! 懷念的天旋地轉同人吧,超讚
great game loved decent 2, forsaken back in to day
if you played Descent back in the day & are looking to revist that type of game while taking the immersion up to 1000 then Overload is what you are looking for, i really need to set aside more time to play this because it is simply brilliant
If you enjoyed Descent, you'll enjoy this!
This is an amazing homage to the classic Descent series from the 90's. If you liked it back then, you'll LOVE this modern revival. I have 70+ hours on it and only just beat the single player campaign... And if you complete it without cheats you get a bonus campaign unlocked! Additionally, there are two dlc campaigns available and a fan made refresh of the original descent 1 campaign (which is free to download). And there are a lot of challenge levels that allow you to grind in a death match against the bots while also upgrading weapons to help you find what upgrade path you prefer in the main campaigns. Highly recommend! P.S. multiplayer is not dead either, you need OLmod to use the current servers, and join the discord to organize matches or find ones in progress. There's also a website that lists servers in play.
I bought this back when it came out and played it a little, but recently revisited it and played through it completely. It's a lot more fun on a high end computer from the future. The graphics look good and the moment to moment experience of flying around a 3D world is fun. Stuff blows up real good. The controls are notably better than other 6DOF games. It has a few design quirks. Your ship and weapons can be upgraded with upgrade points and super upgrade points that are hidden in the levels, but you can't go back to try to find more, so you could easily shaft yourself and be stuck in scenario that might be too difficult for you. There are frequently combat rooms with a lot of enemies that contain a temporary powerup to help you, but you can't find it until after all the enemies are cleared out. The penultimate weapon, the fusion cannon equivalent, is underwhelming. It doesn't do a huge amount of damage, uses a lot of energy, is slow firing, has to charge up, and shakes your ship around too much while it is charged. The standard laser weapon is obsolete as soon as you get the cyclone. You're basically going to be using the cyclone or the driller most of the game. Those are pretty minor though, and I would still recommend this game in 2026. It is better than Sublevel Zero and Desecrators.
I do not play a ton of 6DOF games but I loved the campaign on Hotshot. got lost quite a bit but there is a map to reference where you are, and getting lost is part of the fun. audio logs and mission briefings contribute positively to the atmosphere, as does the dense soundtrack. sad to see the devs of this one went under, I hope they're able to get together and make another campaign. challenge mode seems to have a lot to do with its own leveling system, and NG+ might have new stuff.
