Named Game of the Year 2019 by Giant Bomb, Polygon, Eurogamer, and The Guardian, Outer Wilds is a critically-acclaimed and award-winning open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 48/day in the week to Aug 22 → 45.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Decent game but incredibly overrated. The story is rather non-linear and I was frustrated at continuously stumbling upon end-game material far too early. I understand it was designed to be like this, but it ultimately left me more confused and less motivated to progress. I've never seen a game as hyped up as this but it just didn't live up to my expectations I suppose. I got this game for about $10 but I'd say its worth $5.
Sometimes we all feel like a little alien boy at the end of the universe.
Immaculate experience, the only thing I don't like is that I can't play it for the first time again.
Literally life changing experience
play this. good game. 10/10. even better actually. 22/10.
Do yourself an favor and play it
The music was nice. That's about where my praise ends. Outer Wilds is built entirely around a mystery, and the mystery is supposed to be what pulls you forward. For me it never did. The intrigue just isn't there, and once you get to the end, the story underneath all that buildup is subpar at best. The ending is where the ambition outruns the writing. Rather than delivering a payoff that reframes everything before it, it hands the job of finding meaning over to the player. That's a familiar trope, and this game falls right into it. Then there's the "go in blind" culture around it. Nearly every recommendation comes with a warning not to learn anything beforehand, because knowing the plot supposedly ruins the whole thing. Think about what that admits. If both the story and the gameplay lose their meaning the moment you know what's coming, the mystery is the crutch holding the entire game together. A story that's actually good holds up when you know where it's headed. A lot of the praise here comes from people protecting that illusion rather than from anything the game delivers. Save your money and your time. If you want a story that earns its reputation, play Silent Hill 2, NieR: Automata, BioShock Infinite, or God of War Ragnarök. Their endings snap shut and change how you see everything that came before. Outer Wilds just asks you to believe it did.
I understand that many like this game. I just cannot get behind the ship controls, too tedious for me to enjoy the rest.
