This game doesn't work in the multiplayer. If you try to reload your gun with a button, it breaks the unit and you can't reload or shoot anymore. The overall performance in the multiplayer is very choppy too...

Out of Ammo, developed and published by RocketWerkz, is a distinctive virtual reality title that merges real-time strategy with first-person shooter mechanics, delivering a hybrid gameplay experience that feels both dynamic and immersive. Set in a voxel-style battlefield, players are tasked with defending their base against waves of increasingly challenging enemies. The game’s appeal lies in its ability to seamlessly combine strategic planning with direct, hands-on combat, creating a layered experience that requires both tactical thinking and quick reflexes. The gameplay in Out of Ammo revolves around a dual approach. In the strategic mode, players act as a commander, placing defensive structures such as bunkers, turrets, and sniper towers while managing resources and positioning troops. This layer of planning requires foresight and adaptability, as players must anticipate enemy paths and balance limited supplies to fortify their defenses effectively. Once the battlefield is prepared, players can jump into first-person mode, taking control of individual soldiers to actively engage enemies, shoot from cover, and physically interact with the environment. This combination of macro-level strategy and micro-level action ensures that no two encounters feel the same, keeping the gameplay fresh and engaging. One of the game’s most compelling features is its full exploitation of VR capabilities. The room-scale design allows players to physically move around their play area, crouch behind cover, and manipulate objects directly with motion controllers. Building fortifications, aiming weapons, and issuing commands all benefit from the tactile, immersive interaction that VR provides, making the player feel truly present on the battlefield. This level of immersion elevates the gameplay, turning traditional RTS and FPS elements into a physically engaging and satisfying experience. Visually, the game adopts a voxel-based art style that is both functional and charming. While it lacks photorealism, the colorful, blocky design provides clarity during fast-paced combat, allowing players to quickly identify enemies, structures, and environmental hazards. The environments are varied, featuring different terrains and layouts that add tactical depth and encourage creative use of defensive structures. Complementing the visuals, the audio design enhances immersion with realistic weapon sounds, environmental effects, and subtle cues that alert players to incoming threats, reinforcing the sense of being in an active combat zone. Content-wise, Out of Ammo offers multiple layers of engagement. The campaign mode presents progressively difficult missions that challenge both strategic thinking and combat proficiency. A freeplay mode allows players to experiment with custom scenarios, testing new strategies or simply enjoying chaotic battles. Cooperative multiplayer adds further depth, enabling friends to team up and coordinate tactics, which not only increases replayability but also introduces a social, collaborative element to the experience. Despite its many strengths, the game does have some limitations. Some players may find the pacing uneven, as the transition between strategic planning and active combat can occasionally feel abrupt. Additionally, the AI can sometimes behave unpredictably, with enemies failing to act in expected ways, which can disrupt carefully laid plans. While these issues do not fundamentally undermine the game, they can occasionally hinder the otherwise fluid experience. Overall, Out of Ammo stands out as an innovative VR title that successfully bridges the gap between strategy and action. Its combination of immersive room-scale interaction, tactical planning, and direct combat creates a compelling experience that is both challenging and rewarding. Though not without minor flaws, the game’s unique approach, replayable content, and engaging mechanics make it a noteworthy entry in the VR landscape, appealing to fans of strategy, shooters, and immersive virtual experiences alike. This game has its strengths and weaknesses, and actually, one weakness is so bad that it’s good. To be honest, this VR title feels more like a tech demo than a full-fledged game. It’s a mix of different modes that feel like the developer wanted to say: "Hey, look what kind of games you can make in VR!" The primary mode is a tower defense game with multiple levels. It’s okay overall; some maps are well-designed and require a tactical approach, while others are quite boring. The extra modes are fine too. But on my playthrough, I found out the hard way why this game could have it's title "Out of Ammo". It’s not just a title; it’s a promise caused by a bug. For some reason, you occasionally can't grab specific objects, which makes situations, like reloading, luck based. While this is a terrible control issue, it made the game significantly harder, especially in the final extra mission. I’d be lying if I said that this ironic "feature" didn't feel like a cool, unintended challenge. If you can laugh it off like I did, you can actually have fun with this experimental title. But don't be frustrated if you have difficulties trying to grab and put a new magazine, while you are literally out of ammo. XD
A fun little arcade game, like a VR version of the Toy Soldiers tower defense games. My friend kept blowing up my defenses, 32 friendly kills every match. I hate him now, but this game is still fun.
