About

Eleven-year-old Iggy wasn’t sure what he was expecting when he dragged his friends out to the woods to attempt a strange ritual from a book he found in the dumpster at school, but his wildest imagination couldn’t have prepared him for the land of wonder and magic that awaited them at the bottom of that old willow tree.
Now, however, it’s twenty years later, and he and his friends are past the age of make-believe. The wonderland of their youth has become nothing more than a far-off dream—until one night, Bucks and her newborn daughter disappear without a trace. Soon, Iggy and his friends find themselves pulled back into that world of childish glee. Only their wishes and desires aren’t so innocent anymore, and the world has twisted itself into a land of horror and depravity that’s scarcely recognizable.

Our Wonderland is a horror-fantasy visual novel focusing on the struggles, issues, and deteriorating relationships between five childhood friends (amplified to horrific effect). I think of it a bit like an overwrought character drama that happens to include horrific and fantastical things. It contains five different arcs, each with its own ending, and your choices affect the amount of peril the protagonist experiences (hint: how many times Iggy violently dies), as well as the final ending (hint: who Iggy ends up with at the very end, because apparently in some messed-up way, this is also the world's worst dating sim).
As an extra note, this game also touches on a lot of LGBTQIA+ themes.
Our Wonderland was originally released episodically on itchio between 2021 and 2024. This Steam release is the newly remastered version with overhauled art, new features, and many quality-of-life updates.

A dramatic, emotional, and occasionally horrific visual novel told in five arcs, each with its own ending
Four possible epilogues based on your choices (1 neutral and 1 for each of the 3 LIs Iggy can end up with)
20 to 25 hours of playtime (around 288k words of reading)
Storybook-style visuals accentuated by a weird, colorful art style
Over 570 CGs/illustrations (that's a whole heck of a lot)
Some super sweet animatic-style cutscenes for important, poignant scenes (easier to cry to)
12 ways to violently die! (if you want to, of course)
A fun cinematic soundtrack and lots of dramatic sound effects for an immersive experience

Our Wonderland is generally recommended for mature audiences on account of its themes. If after reading the information in the Mature Content Description below, you have any concerns regarding the content, it's recommended that you read the complete and detailed list of content and trigger warnings available on the official site for the game. This list organizes warnings according to arc and type and includes specific details on all potentially triggering content in the game while trying to stay as spoiler-free as possible.
The game also includes a Censored Mode. This mode spot-pixelates elements of gore within the CGs, which may be helpful if you're interested in the game but squeamish about gore.

This is by far the best VN I've experienced in a while, and I find it crazy that it is free. This isn't a passive VN; it not only has a brilliant story, but is also interactive in a way that makes you engaged and invested. I wasn't bored for a second. Not all the characters are readily likeable, but you WILL learn more about them and, if you don't come to like them, you will at least understand why they are the way they are. Unlike some games I've played, the options don't try to force you into liking any character or make you choose between extreme sentiments. Did I mention it's free? If you read the content warnings and aren't put off, there's literally NO reason to not play it.
I truly don't even know where to begin. That was genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. To say this game was life-changing for me would be an understatement, I feel like I've completely changed my outlook on life. I didn't know much of anything coming into this game; the most prior knowledge I had was through artwork that I've been following on Instagram for the past few months since it popped up on my feed, mostly of Iggy and Genzou. Since then, I've only heard bits and pieces about this, but have been really excited to try it out since I've adored this creator's works. This game plays with your heart and in the best way possible. There were so many tense, thrilling moments where I genuinely could not tell what would happen next. Each twist shocked me to my core, keeping me so invested in how the story would play out. The art style is so unique, I can't say I've seen anything quite like it. The backgrounds were gorgeous to look at, and they really helped to elevate the scenes. The writing was phenomenal, I felt like I could always picture myself in these moments very clearly. The romance throughout was executed extremely well and honestly felt very realistic. I went the Iggy/Genzou route and was thoroughly pleased. It was so heartwarming to see all of the buildup throughout the story payoff. The after story segment was so damn cute!! I couldn't stop gushing over it the whole time. There's such a great deal of themes touched upon in this story that explore various topics of identity, all illustrated beautifully. I can't stop myself from thinking about this game even now after I just finished it. I'll be obsessing over this for weeks, it's truly one of the greatest stories I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I really hope to see more of these characters in the future, you can tell that so much love and passion went into this incredible project. Please keep up the amazing work!

PROTECT GENZOU AT ALL COSTS This game is so cool, Carrot should stop torturing Genzou for everyone's well being
Don't mind my play time. The game is far longer than that. I've played the original game before on itch, and I'm so excited to see this on Steam! You're in for a ride. Be sure to read the content warnings, because the game is brutal, especially the bad ending CGs.
Only just finished Arc 2, so I'll come back once I'm finished, but just wanted to note that this game has been phenomenal so far! The demo really sold me on the story, and I'm glad to say that the pacing hasn't died down yet. Looking forward to the rest and I hope that the rest of you enjoy it as well!
Genuinely one of my favorite visual novels, could not recommend more!!!
This was obviously a massive labour of love with its ambitious scope and literally hundreds of CGs. The characters' relationships are quite complex with all the unspoken resentments and expectations of actual relationships. It handled a number of difficult topics, such as internalized homophobia and transphobia, with careful nuance but without pulling any punches. Horror, adventure, and romance/friendship were all nicely balanced. Although I do recommend this game, I feel like the ending was a little too... pat for me. Even though it set up a lot of legitmately hurtful conflicts, it felt like it rushed a bit to have everyone be content by the end and smooth over issues, although I can see others disagreeing with me on this.
I got trauma. 11/10 would add 12 but not enough Jerry screen time. But um... ima be honest with you, Iggy is exactly like me, and has all my regrets and fears and. I felt every bit, playing till the sun came down and rose again. Thank you so much for making this game. Tears in my eyes, it was an honest to god good game. im going to now sit with effectively watching myself die over and over for the past week. FYI i got neutral ending
Powered through my first playthrough all in one sitting, and Immediately found myself wanting to start up another one. Our Wonderland has cemented itself in my all time favorites now. The gameplay loop is fun to play, and surprised me in the best ways! The writing really drew my focus, especially the interactions between different characters - and how these change from act to act or depending on the choices you make. I'd heavily reccommend Our Wonderland if you're looking for an exciting new experience :)
I have yet to play the full remastered version, but I still want to encourage everyone to play this game. Two years ago when I first played Our Wonderland on Itch.io I completely fell in love with the game and never stopped thinking about it since. First of all, the writing is super compelling and engaging, so I assure you you are not going to be bored while playing. The author tackles some very delicate themes respectfully and realistically, the characters are memorable and three-dimensional and the story is interesting and satisfying to discover. The art is also incredibly charming and unique! Truly I cannot recommend this game enough. The message has stuck with me and helped me a lot during tough times and I know it will leave an impact on you too. + this is one of the few videogames featuring the character genzou ichihara pls play it <3 (also, if you'd like to know, there's a bunch of spin off games on the creator's itch.io and they are also worth to be played pls play our wonderland pleaseeee plsplspls please pleaaaaaseeeee)
