minimalist in every way, including the price after it went free 5 years after release. cool gimmick of 'single-ord' storytelling, and while many games fail at proper punctuation, this has it down pat. 5 stories, should've fit them on 'level select' without a scroll bar that refuses to move with the mouse wheel, unless the cursor is over the bar itself on the right. works fine on other screens. keyboard controls are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up too. if you toggle something in the settings with enter, only space toggles it again, but if you press space first, nothing works on that option until you back out and come back again. settings don't cover the basics. a single audio toggle instead of separate volume sliders. a cursor toggle to turn off mouse controls for some reason. windowed mode toggle for a smaller, non-resizable window. a bunch of languages. settings are accessible while playing and that's the only place achievements can be checked in-game. names only, unlike on the store page/library. can't save on exit (or at all) and dying also puts you back to the very beginning. there are some effects that make text harder to read and they can't be turned off. words appear instantly but I got sick of them appearing one by one, as fast as they did. it's just a variation on the typewriter effect even if clicks are only necessary for choices and when there are no choices, to progress to the next screen. what I'm saying is it needs an instant text and no text effects option. it's fun for a while, surprising amount of choices, however instantly deadly and/or random many of them are (doing the same thing might trigger something else next time), but I would've really liked some sort of timeline/decisions screen after exploring each story a bunch. try half or so of the paths, then let me lessen the tedium and repetition by jumping around instead of memorizing a billion variations. would be necessary even if it had a proper save system with unlimited slots, even more so as it is. something this basic, literally up to 4 words on every screen (but mostly 3), should work flawlessly, and again, be less tedious to be enjoyable in the long(er) run and to get a thumbs up. so thumbs down it is. also, the 2 user-submitted stories are considerably weaker than the original 3. the heist even more so than the other one, which in turn has a constant(ly annoying) text effect. they should've stayed in the workshop or wherever they got them from.
This game is super confusing at first but gets really interesting. There are so many different ways to do something, and when you think there are no more options, there are always more. Super fun and fascinating!
Such a neat little game. A choose your own adventure, stripped to the most basic of information given to you. A one-word prompt, and two choices for you to pick from. For as simple as the display is, and the fact that you are really only ever looking at a few words on screen at a time, this game is able to convey quite a bit of atmosphere, and it's definitely pretty funny at times. It made me actually audibly laugh a few times. Your brain can be amazing at filling in the blanks sometimes, and this game brings that to the forefront. If you're looking for something casual that you can pick up and play for 5 minutes, or 5 hours, this game is one you want to check out. Grab the mouse, sit back and chill. There are all kinds of branching paths, and there are multiple stories to choose from. Quite a bit of replayability. Profile features aren't limited for the achievements. I'm totally glad I stumbled across this game. 100% recommend.
A very simple game. A story to play through that doesn't require alot of reading or thought. I enjoyed playing for the achievements.
:D
It might be free but that's not an excuse for having bloom all over the place for no reason whatsoever. I really don't get it. It's not present in any of the screenshots on the Steam page, but you can't turn it off. You also can't tune the audio down. The stories could be kinda fun to get through if not for that everything feels either irrelevant or railroady. Way too many answers are just "you die, start over" buttons and way too many don't really contribite at all to anything but the achievement progress. The way it is it's a few main stories (which you choose before you play, as there are a few settings to choose) that you barely get to change. It is free, but why is it even on Steam? There is barely any content and all menus look exactly like when I implemented a small game engine half a decade ago and a menu system, a pure list of texts pointed at with a dot.(which required a lot of work because I was mostly going from scratch, while I'm sure this used a ready-made engine) There wasn't too much potential, but it did have some potencial to be good. Enough of it to disappoint in it's current form.
This.
