Opus Magnum is the latest open-ended puzzle game from Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem, Infinifactory, and SHENZHEN I/O. Design and build machines that assemble potions, poisons, and more using the alchemical engineer’s most advanced tool: the transmutation engine!

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.29/day in the week to Sep 10 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Initially I played the minigame inside of the game more than the game itself. Very zenn. Then I played the actual game. Great puzzles, very relaxing.

It is fun going for world records. It is surprisingly easier to get world records in this game than you might think. I have two right now.
I heard positively about this game, and think I would quite enjoy it, however this game is an immediate failure out of the box for me. As there is no way to rebind keys. I use unusual positional keybinds, and an alternate keyboard layout. This game offers options for limited alternate keyboard layouts, but not mine. And even if it included mine, It likely wouldn't be what I wanted. Looking into the config file, there is no options for keybinds, even though I am willing to edit a config file. I'm disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy this game.
I'm so glad Zachtronics exists! After just a few hours, I can already tell this game is absolutely fantastic. I love the puzzles and how they're integrated into the story. It really reminds me of the incredible Infinifactory, but in 2D with its own unique mechanics and charm. I can't wait to dive even deeper! Well done! :3
Becomes pretty tedious pretty quickly. You can't simulate parts of your automaton, set break points, record macros, assign names or tags, create groups, or anything like that. It cries for abstraction, but it doesn't provide any. Instead your automatons get bigger and complexer, and at some point you're just closing your eyes, rub your temple, and ask yourself: "WTF is going on?!". Not losing overview (and your sanity) is just impossible. It feels like having to do all your programming in the basic Windows Editor, in a programming language without comments, modules, and basic ergonomics, and you must name all your functions 1, 2, 3, etc.
An utterly slam dunk version of solitaire. There also happens to be a game about performing alchemy on thrown in, so that's a plus.
I jumped into the game expecting a soundtrack as magnificent as the good old Codex of Alchemical Engineering. Sadly, I was disappointed. It’s not that it’s bad, but it doesn’t quite live up to it. But the game itself is really good. The levels start easy and become more difficult as you progress. None of the levels are truly hard if you don’t care about how much space you use or how fast your solution is. The real challenge comes from making solutions clean and optimized.
This game is right up my alley. You have a goal, so you make a machine. It works, but you have this nagging feeling that you could design it better. You know, more elegantly. So you do. Next thing you know you have spent 8 hours working on this thing and when you finally get it the way you want it and it works, the dopamine rush is pretty great.
most beautiful zach-like. most accessible zachtronics game also. i revisited several and only had enthusiasm for this and certain games in Last Call BBS. the beauty really matters, man. a lot of zach-likes look like a dog's hole, how can you think under those conditions
