Très bon jeu de survie et de chasse...Malheureusement il bug pas mal et crash!!!
Ужас во всех смыслах тех. составляющей. Игра буквально не хочет и не даёт в неё играть.
I only logged 1.5hrs with the Steam version to see if it was any better than the Playstation version which I originally sank about 15 or so hours into. It wasn't. Which is unfortunate because this game had/has a lot of potential to fill a niche genre/market; survival hunting sims. I am not a huge hunting fan, in fact I find it kind of pointless in the age of grocery stores, although I do partake in the activity virtually when required in a lot of other survival games. I find trying to a vegetarian path rather difficult in most survival games. That being said, I am a huge survival game fan, and that is what interested me in Open Country to begin with. Most survival games follow similar templates for the genre, with a good deal of them even utilizing the same branch and stone (etc) assets. There is often some sort of horror element; zombies, mutants, other players or they just make the act of crafting and survival the crux of the gameplay without anything else on offer outside of mildly interesting exploration, like Among Trees. How many times have we seen a mission log peppered with such exciting tasks as cut tree, make pickaxe, cut stone.. But here was a survival game built around hunting that had missions and activities as well as a solid crafting system and a decent open world. Yes, the shimmering effects of the grass and foliage is enough to make me sick. Yes the voice acting and overall script is also enough to make me sick. Yes, it looks and feels like a budget title. But those are all shortcomings that can be easily overlooked or at the very least one can put up with. I love The Long Dark but there are some design choices in that game that baffle me to this day (having to first pick up and look at an item before being able to add it to my inventory is maddening. Just let me pick everything up with a button press and then let me decide what to do with it later..). But Open Country launched with too many graphical and technical issues, none of which were really addressed. I had hope once the developer patched in the option to break branches down to sticks or simply hatchet a tree to get wood that all hope wasn't lost. I mean, yes this is simple stuff that should have been in the game by default, but it was some semblance of proof that someone on the developer team was at the very least listening as this was certainly one of most requested simple fixes. But then; it just went dark. And you could feel that often used and much maligned word creep up the back of your neck: Abandoned. Which, Open Country is; abandoned. And what a shame and waste of resources to even make it in the first place. And I fear with it goes the attempt to bridge hunting sims with a genre that not only makes perfect sense to merge with, the survival genre, but that could have also opened up new avenues of consumers/players to broaden the hunting genre's appeal beyond guys at your local bar that spend all night one the Cabela's cabinet. I give it a recommended thumbs up despite my less than glowing review simply because if you can get it for next to nothing, or better yet for nothing, and you can stomach a poorly made yet still definitely playable game and enjoy hunting and survival games it can be fun and engaging. The hunting mechanics are by no means a simulation aside from the fact that you do use a weapon to kill animals, so don't go in expecting a deep simulation taking into account wind or bullet drop or scent or really much more beyond point gun; shoot, hit or miss, harvest carcass. If you want something more realistic with more to offer than simply hunting I would say check out Way of the Hunter, Hunter: Call of the Wild/Angler, or even Red Dead Redemption 2.
Not as good as I hoped for .. but there might be some updates to make the game better.
I played this game over 30 hours. The basic idea is great and it is relaxing. I also liked the landscape and that you are relatively free how to achieve your missions. The best thing in this game is, that you really can take your time and almost do what you want. Alas, it has too many design flaws and bugs. First of all it leaves the player alone. It takes a long time until you master the inconsistent user interface and some essential things can only be learned by luck or research on YouTube etc. E.g. the notorious how to boil water problem (see below). The rabbit hunt mission is taunting for the beginner. It took me days to complete because there are too few of them and then not where you are told. They can be found not on the meadow but on the side of the footpath! Took me 2 game-time days to complete. Then the hunt for old chip mission is simply too long for the beginner. Took me 5 game-days to complete and had to build 3 camps. Finding that beast is not easy but I got it (after shooting 3 wrong elks) ! The ATV mission is relatively easy. Then the good old friend mission. Looks like it is plain vanilla but then the mandatory objective "Go to Brighton lake" appears. This is where the game gets nasty. Firstly, you can either guess where that lake is or do internet research because they forgot to label it on the map. When you get there you are expected to shoot a wolf that attacks you. Unfortunately the wolf killed me - and that was the end of the game. You get no second chance. Even if you go back to a former saved game! Maybe it helps if you go back to before the mission but in my case I had no older save games because I had heeded the advice of the game "Save often save early" and also built a base camp at Panorama view in between. Generally, when you are attacked by predators, I had the impression that the gun jams on close distance. There are a lot of other unhappy things in that game. It sucks that most of time your are in peril of starvation, die from thirst or fall unconcious because you cannot simply sleep but have to build a camp first. Most of the water you find is contaminated and you have to cook it. So you are almost dying and desperately run for water and then - if don't want to fall ill which is no fun at all - have to build a camp fire and a grill and wait until your water is boiled. Also having to feed the dog is a unnecessary distraction making him more of a burden than an asset. Well, I feel sorry for the game because, despite all it drawbacks, I loved it. But I will not start all over again. Here are some hints for you, who want to give it a try - First of all, take your time. You can take a week to accomplish a task if you like. - You can only save the game at camps, not even the RV. If you buy a tent, you can save and rest anywhere. - Always boil water from ponds using the camp fire enhancement grill (Prepare boiled water) - At the lodge Nancy (after you finished the second task) will sell and buy almost everything. Buy equipment from her - You can drive only to parking areas that are on the map - Return to panorama view and build a base camp at the pond. It always has clean water. - Camps collapse after one day. Upgrade to outpost. - You can harvest branches and leaves from trees by making a melee attack with your hatchet. - Spend your experience points to level up your stamina first: need less food and drink! - Stash boxes transmit their contents to all other stash boxes. However I only saw this in a video. - Do not carry too much because you are slower and get tired faster. - Objectives are indicated by a red dot on the map - Beware of the "evil woman" near the oven at the lodge! You get literally stuck on her! Goodbye. I am stuck at Brighton Lake forever.
GRAPHICS ARE ok, dont quite understand altho i just jump in to multiplayer, i check off no on do you recomend this game because i dont recomend if im playing with anyone over 15 under it may seam easer fro them like cabalaes big game hunter series was fun when i was 10-14 or so !
very clunky controls I bought it because Jaxy beard was streaming it and even he abandoned it and apologised to his fan base. Can not recommend this game.
Enkelt, spennende, fin historie, rundet spillet på 125 timer. Likte spillet veldig godt.
