Ooki, our happy go lucky monkey is minding his own business in the jungle. Ooki with a sparkle in his eyes spots of his favourite …. bananas! But then something terrible happens. Those awful yet terribly cute bullies gang up on Ooki and steal his precious bananas. Distraught Ooki goes to visit monkey god. He is told to beat ALL the cute bullies over 100 levels to get his bananas back! Life really isn’t fair…. Gameplay So the story is just fluff and took one minute to write but this just setup for a very fun block puzzle game. Ooki has to punch all the banana blocks in a correct route. This consists of nine areas made up of ten levels and a mini boss fight. To unlock a new area, you must beat the previous one first. The faster and longer combos you achieve the better points you get. This in turn gives you a better rank. Be warned slow coaches! Devil Cat will appear and start chasing you and try to kill you after a certain time. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=707006703 Figuring out some of the routes might make you want to punch something but they are all solvable. Additionally, elements, spikes, portals, floating and ground enemies are all determined to ruin your good time. providing some additional challenge. If you need extra help you can take the daily challenge to win a go on the prize machine for extra lives or helpers. Artwork and Music The artwork and character designs match the tone of the game perfectly and I feel it was a great design choice. Its big, bold, cartoon like and colourful. The main catchy instrumental sounds like a steel band jamming on an island. Devil Cat got his own instrumental too which is a scratch stopping the main and gives of a spooky warning feel. The animal sounds are very nice too. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=701169683 Conclusion This is great value for its price providing hours of fun out if you enjoy puzzle games. After game completion you can still do daily challenges, banana chase and work on achievements. Devil Cat also wants you to try his ultra difficult levels if you are hard enough. I am also convinced the developers unleashed their inner child by naming an area Mount Doodeedoo. On a final note I would love the developers to add some emotes to collect for this game. If you have seen any screenshots of this game the character designs are too cute not to collect!
This key was provided for review purposes
Solid time waster
Currently Ookibloks is also free on ios devices, Iphone or Ipad would have been my recommendation, had it not been for the nuisance of being bombarded with ads, common for free mobile games. Atleast here you dont have to suffer through that. As for the game: there isnt much to talk about when it comes to visuals, backgrounds are not much to look at, even the animal design is very simplistic. At Least its colorful and cute looking, with thick outlines. It's pleasant to look at. Which is fine because what matters here is the gameplay You take control of a monkey whos bananas and been stolen by some sneaky crabs, which by the way, as far as i know, dont even like bananas. So now its up to you to retrieve them from this awful creatures in this action/puzzle game The idea is find a route where you can hit all the block items (bananas) while maintaining a combo string for as long as possible. It wont be that easy though, you can only move in one direction at a time and the block needs to be in the way to be able to retrieve the item inside, just standing near a block wont do. There will be new additions as you progress to keep it from getting repetitive, more things will be thrown at you, New enemies, different blocks, portals, breakable walls. And just to keep things fresh theres are also Boss Battles and challenges and even another game modes A couple things annoy me a bit

Challenges are easier than the mini game you have to play to get the rewards
The rewards are usually more lifes, which are almost unnecessary when the game as unlimited continues and lets you start from where you left on
There was a scarce amount of power ups in the mobile version for microtransaction purposes, that's fine but on PC what i see is a portion of the gameplay i can barely use EDIT: Seriously...i don't think i can be so unlucky as to only get lifes from these minigames. Developers, if you want this game on PC, that's fine, but power ups and everything that is related to the challenges were clearly only made for the mobile version and its microtransactions, so please remove them from the game. Overall, solid gameplay accompanied by some catchy tunes, the kind of game you play daily for around 30 min Sadly there is no android version right now, Which is a missed opportunity. There's always Humble mobile bundle and im sure many wouldn't mind paying just to play on mobile without having to suffer from ads.
Oookiblocks is an amazing new game, it keeps you on your toes with a soundtrack that just gets you swinging. Firstly the storyline gets you right into the game, you know what you're doing and if you love bananas as much as Ooki does, you're going to want to help him out! Secondly, if you're as OCD as me, you'll want to get every one of those bananas and knock out every one of those pesky crabs in as quick a time as possible. It's so addictive! The fact there are over 100 levels is pretty exciting too, you know you're getting a well-thought out game if there's that many stages to tackle! The puzzles get more and more challenging over time, so you definately won't get bored and you'll feel as if you're moving up the banana ladder with sufficient room to improve. It's great to play on Windows platform - you won't have to swipe anything or press and hold anything, just click your direction keys! Response time is instant. You won't be able to peel yourself away! This game definately appeals to many age groups, both as a relaxing fun game to pass away a few spare moments, or to settle down to some serious banana smashing, ninja monkey business. Don't let this game pass you by! Here is my playthrough! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Shj5p5WE5cQ
A really cool and addictive game. If you like fixed screen games like Pang, Tumblepop, Pac-Man, Double Bubble and so on, this game will delight you. I give it 10 asterisks for everything, because of how cheap it is, the nice graphics, the great music, the fun it offers, the bosses, the daily challenges, because it has leaderboards, achievements ... When it is in price reduction it is You can get it for $ 1, but don't even wait for this, it is worth much more than the $ 3 it costs. A great game !!! Asteriskel Rating: * * * * * * * * * *
Very good game with beautiful graphics and fantastic music, but above all it shines with its own light in its gameplay. It is a mix of skill and puzzle game. It is very entertaining to control this monkey and go in search of bananas, and it is very addictive, because you always try to improve the times to get a better grade. Highly recommended and inexpensive. 8.5 / 10 Hey, if this review has been useful to you, you can follow me on: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38997970/
I received a copy of ookibloks for review purposes. This is the first game I have decided to review. So far, I am pretty impressed with ookibloks. I am not generally a huge fan of puzzle games and so I wasn't sure how much time I would spend with Ookibloks. Having said that, so far I am really impressed by Ookibloks. The graphics are bright and simple, but still cute and go well with the bright colors. The object of the game is to go through the levels as a cute little monkey and retrieve all of the bananas that were stollen by the crabs and other animals of the island. You do this by going through and touching or punching the blocks containing your sweet yellow fruit. touching doesn't seem to be as good a description as punching, as the way the game works you can only move perpendicular to your current location. so merely being next to a banana block isn't adequate, you have to launch into it from the block across the way. you are then rewarded points and combos that raise your rank as you pass through the levels. Crabs and the other animals come into play to make things more difficult for our little simian and there are also various tools and other obstacles to make your journey more difficult. Or at least require extra thought. So far, I have played through the tutorial and through the first "boss fight" and like I said, I am not generally a huge fan of puzzle games. However, I am intrigued enough by ookibloks that I plan to return and spend more time with it. I like that you can challenge yourself to increase your rank on each level, and with the daily challenge levels there should continue to be plenty of challenge to come. If you are a fan of puzzle games I would recommend you give Ookibloks a try!
This game is deceptively simple to pick up from the very beginning, with any new elements added gradually stage by stage in a way that is challenging but not daunting. Story mode is very cute, and I love the Japanese-inspired monsters and subtle anime and gaming references. It gets more and more challenging as you go, and there are still a couple stages I'm stuck on, but the ability to logic my way through them is rewarding. I've not hit the table-flip stage I do with most puzzle/action games. As much as I love the art and the gameplay, the music (and the way the sfx feed into it) is easily the best element of the game. The sfx vary, remaining in tune with the music, and are offset just enough from the action that they also stay in time with the music. This results in the sfx actually adding a second layer to the music (which is already very fun in and of itself). While this is evident constantly in Story Mode, it comes out best in Banana Chase, where you're racing against yourself to keep combos rolling. Story Mode can require pausing to get just the right timing on certain moves, but as the Banana Chase levels are largely free of hazards, you're free to go winging around at top speed, and you can hear just how clever and well thought out the relationship between the music and sfx is. It's cute and kid-friendly, but not so much that it's alienating to an adult. I can't think of anyone I wouldn't recommend this to.
Une superbe découverte!!! Fun,coloré, addictif,musical... Voila qui résume bien cette petite pépite !!! ça reste du puzzle game mais avec un côté détente trés appréciable. Foncez !!!
Ookibloks is what looks a lot like a mobile app that's in the wrong place. The game probably won't work for a lot of gamers on modern PCs. Here's why. It's apparent that little to no testing for the game was done, at least on modern gaming PCs. In fullscreen, the game doesn't display properly, with the game area drawn outside the viewable space. This is caused by the developer not bothering to ensure the game works on resolutions over 1080p, with very high resolution monitors that use resolution scaling. Because the game area is not drawn correctly, it doesn't map to the mouse pointer properly, so the game itself simply cannot be played. Gamers shouldn't be forced to accept defective products just because developers don't bother with basic testing on PC. If you can somehow get the game to display properly, you'll find it's a very basic "ice sliding" style game where you're positioned on a puzzle grid. You move in straight lines. Each time you move, you move until you hit an obstacle/block, then you can plan your next move. This is the basic schtick for the many Russian ClickTeam Fusion asset flips in the "Chocolate Makes You Happy" series of games, but in this case there's an added dimension of moving enemies which you must avoid by timing your moves carefully. Okay. A bit convoluted to explain, but you can get the idea pretty quick watching a gameplay video... and ultimately it's a shallow experience that would barely be worth playing on an iPhone, let alone here on Steam. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Ookibloks might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Ookibloks has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for clearing the first stage, trivial to achieve, but less than 6 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 6 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Ookibloks is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
