I'm not sure if I have ever even written a review....hmmm. Anyways - I don't recommend this game the way it is now for Oculus users. I cannot speak on behalf of any other VR platform, but wow...don't buy it if you are using a Rift. I REALLY THINK THIS GAME HAS HUGE POTENTIAL! If the developers want to hand if off to someone to continue with, feel free to contact me. I would love to make this into something great. I have always been a fan of COD Zombies so - despite reading other reviews - I decided to try this out. I think I played one or two rounds and refunded it as it was just unplayable. As someone mentioned before - the guns are always facing down. The game tracking must be optimized for the Vive. The movement options are extremely limited and they get a little mixed up when trying to buy guns, etc. You can either have it set to teleport, in which you have to press down your thumbstick and point to where you want to go - which isn't normally an issue, but normally games allow you to turn with the opposing thumbstick. Now, I'm not a lazy guy (well...that's debatable), but I don't want to have to physically turn around every time I want to see what's behind me. A simple addition of turning would be fantastic. Just so you know, the same happens with the other controller setting as well. It allows you to move back and forth with your thumbstick, but you can't turn. It will turn in the direction you are looking, however, so I suppose that is something. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't double-hand weapons. I am so used to Pavlov and Zero Caliber, so I expected the shotgun to go flying out of my hand when I fired. To my surprise, it didn't go flying...and it was oddly accurate...and it even caulked itself (not with an animation, but a sound) so I could just keep firing. The sounds and the graphics are decent. I don't mind them at all, considering this game came out in 2017. The animations get buggy and choppy when there is too many zombies on the screen. I didn't notice any actual performance issues, it was just like the zombies themselves were chopping and everything else was fine... Anyways, it looks like this was abandoned by the developers - which is a real shame.
For this price def worth it! Loved call of duty with zombies... But this is way better!
The description for this game says "Inspired by COD Zombies" and they mean it. Nailed it actually. It feels just like COD zombies and I love it for that. Nice little touch with the nail gun and repairing the windows. That was cool. My only real complaint with this game is that I couldn't find anyone to play with. I tried to host a game but found out that it requires you to wait in the lobby while you try to find people. I really hoped I could play and people would join on the fly. Still totally worth picking up though. Feel free to check out my experience with this game in the video below if you so desire. https://youtu.be/aOg4TuFmF24
This game really does feel like a VR version of COD Zombie mode. For being early access I didn't run into any significant bugs. Due to the limited player base of VR and how new this game is, it doesn't look like multiplayer will be easy to do at this point. I don't think it will be an issue by the time this game is fully released. I also found the game a little too easy at this stage. However, that may be in part due to how much I played COD zombie mode. I survived for ~20 rounds before dying due to setting my controllers down to open a drink. I would give this game a 8/10 at this point. The only reason it isn't 10/10 is due to how hard it is to get a multiplayer game going. That will only be fixed with more people playing, so buy the game and get all your friends to buy the game. Side Note: The corner by the shotgun spawn is a perfect place to setup a BBQ and lawn chair while dispatching the undead hoards.
Ran on Oculus Rift, 1080 Ti card. Three major bugs that made the game unplayable. I don't know what it is, but people need to stop shipping games that are this broken. I'm sure you could lure your 13 year old neighbor to play your game for 10 minutes and find this stuff. Posted to the 'bug forum' and the devs didn't even respond within a week. Would've stuck it out, but if the devs don't care about their game, I'm not sure why I should. 1: When playing single player, the knife doesn't work. It swings right through everything without doing any damage. Slow, fast, stabbing, doesn't matter. I've just been playing with guns at this point. 2: I'm experiencing a crash. I believe, but am not sure it revolves around my third bug. All I know is that if I play single player, at the end of the round after the board, the game crashes. I can't tell because 3 happens every time I play. 3: My guns can lose their viewable texture. I'm walking around shooting zombies and suddenly my guns remain suspended in the air and I can still fire, but I can't see my guns. I believe this has to do with the grip (drop) being accidentally pressed, but am not sure as this doesn't happen every time the grip is pressed at the same time as the trigger.
if your using the oculus touch controls be ready to hold the controler up to shoot (holding the gun in a normal way shoots at the floor ) Ive only played one game and this is the only issue seen so far but until this is fixed i cant reccomend. I will change review once fixed. I have also posted this issue in the bugs section.
Oh boy, this is a real stinker. Has very low expectations going in, but today sadly the game is pretty much broken at this point. Don't waste your time
this game is by far the worst iv ever played in VR. u have to keep the weapons high with oculus. u didnt see ur own character or hands. the sound is terrible. automatic reload. fkn lame and boring. give me my money back :-< not even for free this game will worth to play!!! ARIZONA SUNSHINE still the best Zombie game!
Alright so we tried the game in single player and here are our thoughts about that part at least: We played like 45 minutes of the game. It has a cool concept of "constant going forward" in the game, where you earn money by killing zombies and buying new weapons and unlocking new areas. It's a very active game and the flow of zombies is pretty constant and scaling. Graphics are good and yeah, def a game you can play with a couple of friends, even if you go single player. We play a lot of horror on our vr gaming channel so we wouldn't say this game is super scary, but it has it's moments. Especially when they start getting close and you forget to buy ammo. This game has potential! So sure, try it out. 12 bucks isn't the whole world and the devs seem serious so this game is a keeper. Now every game in VR has its flaws and we thought the teleporting was a bit off, especially in the first map with the alleys. But, nothing that cant be improved. In general, a good game. In our clip you can see the waves of zombies, if you like fast forward 1/4 into the clip. Basically it's like that throughout the game (at least for the time we played it). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j86t8Mh9098
One Of The Last is a great shooter that really does live up to the concept of 'COD zombies' / L4D in VR. It plays really well to the strengths of the VR medium (it's a super comfortable experience) and plays to VR's biggest strength; social! Multiplayer games really are the best thing in VR and One Of The Last does a great job of making you need to work together as a team. For an early access title, it's super stable and performs well on my hardware. It's great to see VR games that aren't just wave shooters and really live up to the promise of surviving a zombie apocalypse with a group of strangers! Can't wait to see this get a full release and the userbase expand - it's got a very bright future ahead of it!
