About
A young wanderer is lost in the forests, and accidentally unleashes something evil. A group of strangers need to become friends and find their own path to salvation to lift the curse that has befallen the land.

Once Upon A Tile has you explore ever-changing dungeons guarded by monsters, traps and magical challenges. Perhaps you need to navigate a trap-filled corridor to the end, or defeat a certain amount of monsters or collect enough treasures to make it through alive. The reasons will change, but the goal remains the same - build the dungeon as you explore it, and avoid traipsing over too many traps or monsters you can not defeat yet. This will require a little bit of luck and a whole lot of strategic planning.
While you play as a hero, you do not move directly. Instead, you follow the shortest paths to the newly discovered dungeon rooms you are exploring. This makes for a very unique and challenging game, where every steps and tile you place counts.
Once Upon A Tile features:
- endless replayability with procedurally generated dungeon-decks
- unlockable and upgradable characters
- an engaging, fully voiced storyline depending on which character you choose to play
- complex mechanics that require you to think carefully, but easy to learn gameplay

Fun little roguelike puzzler that keeps you thinking but isn't too darstardly difficult!
Cute and calm :)
Relaxing but challenging mix of rogue lite elements and strategic puzzle gameplay.

Normally I am not a great fan of rogue lites or puzzle games. But this game got an undeniable fascination that almost resembles Civilizations "just..one..more..round..." :D I just wanted to place one more tile, get another treasure or weapon point and try to max out my run. So in order to keep it short, here my pros and cons : Pros:

Unique and engaging gameplay using the tiles mechanic
Fresh dungeons and replayability via procedural generated dungeons
Different characters with different abilities and their own story
Interesting mix of strategy, relaxing and luck.. Its just intriguing :3
The story does not win an Oscar but the voiceovers are pretty good
The music and sounds are really catchy and give the right atmosphere
Cons:

If you die you have to replay the tutorial mission. No dealbreaker but a bit annoying
Sometimes frustrating when you dont have a matching tile
No way to fast forward or speed up the movement of the hero

TL;DR Once upon a Tile is a cute, little puzzle game to relax, enjoy the ambience and tinker till you get the perfect run.
Can only recommend it ! <3

Very unique puzzle rougelite, where you build the dungeon instead of traversing it, while making sure to not block off future space and escape routes. I only played for a couple of hours, but there seems to be plenty of content left with multiple heroes and areas. The farytale vibes in environment and music are also pleasing and make it very cozy!
Its a charming, easy to grasp, yet challenging (if you arent careful) puzzle game. I got to play the early demo for streamers and i love it <3 Tbh im a bit said Yara is only a tutorial character, her personality is so damn adorable! I loved the voice acting! Fits very well with the a bit more old school paintery style evertyhing has. Of course there were still some bugs but nothing game breaking. Im rly not good with writing reviews x3 Puzzle 4/5 Graphics 5/5 Story 3/5 (There isnt much yet but its a very good start and looking for more) Will play more soon!
I've been having a lot of fun with this game so far, not too easy nor too difficult, just right for me. I'm relatively new to gaming and I like how easy the game is to learn, yet challenging to master :D Loving the artstyle and characters too!
Seeing This Game Grow Has Been a Joy! :) <3
I’ve been following Once Upon A Tile for a while, playing it at conventions over the years, and did some palytesting beforehand...and now I am finally getting to experience the full game. <3 It’s been amazing to see how much it has improved and where it all started. I can remember the first time I played it at the gamescom2023 when it wasnt as polished but already got a grip on me :D "Let them cook"!

The game is much fun and an overall good experience. Some smaller flaws here and there but thats the Indie Spirit !
The artstyle is simple but effective and looks really nice and gives a great vibe!
Until yet no crashes or freezes! :D Hope it stays like this
Different characters are interesting and the story got enough motivation to push through the game
Rotating the map, choosing the tiles, planning the path in your head and all that has a relaxing fascination
The collectibles and unlockables motivate to play another round and try another run

Summary:

If youre into puzzle games, like cute animals and want to relax with a chill game...go get it ! :)
It is a nice indie game with some interesting mechanics, however it seems a bit rough. It will need some updates to give you more things to do once you finish it. I encountered one very annoying bug, it did not save my progress after a 2 hour run with only a couple more events to finish the game that made me uninstall it. Instead of taking me to the point where I left and saved before exiting the game, it just changed to the tutorial. Another annoying thing is that same events, at the beginning of a run, will not provide you the means to get the reward.
I really enjoyed the demo and also this much the game! Better then Dorfromantik.
