I am enjoying the game immensely so far. The story seems super interesting. However I have noticed there is currently no way to re-read research notes you have found and that's a little disappointing. I think there should be a tab of collected notes so you can keep track of the story.
The idea is really good, but there are many things that needs to be refined yet. 1. the game is stressfully hard, but not like a soulslike, its just annoying and unfair, even on easy mode. The corruption mechanic makes no sense at all, its just to annoy you while you are running towards the boss for the 100th times because you are unlucky, the boss has 4 skills and spamming all of them, and usually faster than you, if not, its at least teleports The Demon is beatable, The Witch is annoying as ♥♥♥♥, but the Ghost.. you actually need to be lucky with the ghost, so its not fun at all at this stage. IF you invite your friends, the game is even harder, becase you need to be lucky finding those ♥♥♥♥♥ sooner. If you are using the icons to decrease the enemy skills, you just got some serious debuffs, like you are dying within 100 secs.. 2. i miss the leveling system, i mean the real one, because im stressing myself for levels, but its just not giving me anything.. the itemization is ♥♥♥♥ as well, you just had to collect everything from the open world, and craft it, no money, and no real use of XP - for levels you just get skins. - we really need some real development mechanic in the game, like shops, money or skills to reduce the unfairness of the game.
This game is quite fun and interesting to say the least. One of the best things about it is, YOU CAN BE A KITTY!!! Collecting hats and other stuff. Crafting items, finding hidden items with your camera (which helps against entities,, mind you). It could be a little "slow/boring" with 1 person, but depends on how much you like single player games, but it was more fun and entertaining with more people, Especially Friends. Maybe a good bit of information to take in at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, its not bad at all. I got a few people to pick up the game and we all played together. There have been some good updates and fixes as well. And more to come. I had no issues playing (Lag, etc).
Okay, I purchased this game last night due to one of my moderators mentioning it and I am very glad I did! I had the chance to play and stream it today so more people could experience it with me and we all had so much fun learning the mechanics! When you first start the game it already has you learning about the lore, which is really cool. There is definitely a lot of information but this is a good thing! This is NOT like any other ghost hunting game you have previously played, trust me. And you can turn into your cat familiar! and do cat things! You have to check out for yourself tho ;) you won't regret it, So selling points for sure: - Being able to be a cat - Open World RPG style And well it is HORROR There are 7 dungeons to dive into. And even the open world has its own little events that are creepy and really cool. There is crafting, you can customize your character and your cat. You can also add some decorations to your house. We experienced 3 dungeons and they were really fun and very unique on their haunting events. There is a training mode to get used to the mechanics and it makes it simple to learn how the game works. Remember, it is not as the games you have played before! Everything you need to know is in your database, steps are detailed and everything is there for you to read at any time if you forgot how to do something. I like that there is so much to do that it makes the game more difficult and less dull. I cannot wait to explore more and I definitely look forward to more updates when they can happen. So far the game has plenty of things to do with it only being early access! And I do believe it is worth the full price!
A very unique ghost-hunting game. It can be quite frustrating in the beginning as the steps to beat the dungeon can be a bit confusing when you first plat it. Also, it does become stressful sometimes when you are playing solo because you do get one-shot by the ghosts (re-spawning is forgiving though). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's anyone playing online so you will most likely have to do it solo. Despite all these cons, I would recommend it due to the low price (especially during sales) and because the game mechanics are fun once you start to understand them. I do see a lot of potential with this game, so I hope the developer continues to work on it. (And I can actually imagine this game being a lot more fun with a team instead of solo.) One suggestion I have now is maybe have a easy mode where the entities don't one-shot you when they catch you. This would make it a lot less frustrating for beginners.
Litteraly a perfect game, you can be a cat, you can get hunted, you die, you revive you win.
The idea of this game is really good, a co-op openworld ghost hunting game. It's amazing that just one person created this. The world looks nice and I was interested to know more about the backstory and lore. The main issue is that the game is extremely hard, even on easy mode. I've played a lot of ghost hunting games, so I imagine someone that has never played the genre would find this game near impossible. There are 4/5 stages inside each 'dungeon' (essentially a ghost hunt, like going inside a house in Phasmo) but each stage has totally different gameplay mechanics so it feels really overwhelming. It doesn't help that outside of the tutorial the instructions no longer appear. Whilst working your way through these stages, there is also a corruption mechanic, which means you need to stop whatever you're doing to close a rift whilst a demon is hellbent on killing you - this happens frequently, over and over again. This is not the only danger though, each of the stages also have ways of killing you; death by demonic book, touched by a ghost, or getting caught in the final showdown. The various dungeon stages are actually fun, but they're too much all within one dungeon. I think the gameplay loop would have been much smoother if dungeons started with only one stage, then the boss. The player could then progress to harder dungeons, with 2 stages then the boss, and so on. Hardest dungeons could then contain all stages. This would have been an easier way for people to learn the mechanics of the game, instead of throwing everything in all at once and overwhelming the player. A few other things I didn't like: * Levelling system. It felt pointless, there are no perks to unlock, and xp gained is minimal. * Parkour and platforming - sometimes needed in the open world, but feels very janky, I didn't like this at all. * The collecting of crafting items littered around the open world becomes boring very fast. Overall this is a unique game and it's impressive that it was made by one dev. With work this could be a great game, but I think the dev has moved on to new projects now so not sure how much will change. The concept is really good, but the execution is not great. After 7 hours I couldn't bring myself to play anymore as it was just far too hard and really frustrating, the learning curve is just way to steep.
an amazing game such unique ideas and replayable everytime wont let u down and such a great community
Platform: PC Genre: Horror (ghost hunting) Non-Spoiler Opinion: My opinions will likely change as I play the game more, and I will try to update this review regularly. In relation to other ghost hunting style games such as Metaphysical and Phasmophobia I would say this game possesses fun mechanics that are different enough that it feels very different from playing Phasmo or Metaphysical. If you look in my game library you will see that I'm no stranger to this genre. I originally purchased this game because Insym played it, and it looked very interesting. Since owning this game I've reached out to the developer through steam discussion boards and not only was the solo game developer quick to respond, but also very quick to add a feature which was barring a friend from playing this game. This is something I don't expect from big studios. High praise for the developer and their willingness to patch in hotfixes for player based needs. What I requested was for a look inversion to be added and it took from my message to hotfix less than two days. Staggeringly quick. I'm not some big streamer or content creator, if you are concerned that this is special treatment. As for game play, I will say the mechanics for each type of hunt is similar enough to not be completely thrown off, but also varied enough to keep interest up. The game seems very difficult at this time even on Easy mode (my friend group regularly plays Nightmare difficulty in Phasmophobia). Our first easy ghost hunt claimed 10+ lives each, but we did guess the ghost correctly and were successful. Most of our deaths came from the entity entering the dungeon itself, not the hunt phase (roughly 3 deaths from hunt phase attempts). With easy mode being this difficult I can foresee plenty of player skill growth to reach harder difficulties. I enjoy challenges so this is appreciated, but perhaps there could be some room for jump scares that don't result in death. There are cool jump puzzles tied to getting cosmetics (I love it when developers put in little hidden things). I would say the jump puzzles can be infuriating at times due to the difficulty of some of them (looking at you, hot air balloon). However, if you get used to aiming for getting the cats front paws on each object, it is doable (the dev made this very transparent as the collision point before I even started playing) .There is a new video to help people understand game mechanics, which is greatly appreciated. As for any game with an animal this game does indeed possess the ever important pet feature. Playing as both cat and human is very interesting, but I feel like cat is far more useful at this time due to movement mechanics favoring cat over human. I wish there was some spell casting or something to make the human play more interesting (this may indeed be a future plan for all I know). Overall, I would say this game has great potential, a dedicated developer, and interesting game play. I would absolutely suggest supporting this game and giving feedback to make it the best possible game. Pros: Deadly encounters (if you see something paranormal, you may very well die quickly), death isn't really that punishing (this can be both pro or con depending on circumstances, but a pro for this game given how often people die), There is an actual story line which is more than what I can say for most games in this genre. Very responsive and helpful developer who clearly cares about this project. varied game play with being able to freely switch between human and cat. Hidden objects to customize player appearance. Cons: Low player base at the time or writing this (for those who appreciate stranger danger this could be a con, but a non-issue for me who plays exclusively with friends), new game issues which is normal for an early release such as; climbing or falling into locations not intended thus not able to leave said location without relogging, high gpu usage for some individuals (I haven't seen this personally, my 2070 super runs epic graphics at sub 70 degree temps, but a friend has a 3070 ti that pushes 88 degrees) So, optimization is still something that needs worked on, but not surprising given the early access. Overall Rating: 7/10 (I think this game has potential to get a much higher score as it continues to be developed) *SPOILERS* Story Arc: I haven't played through the whole game yet, but I have dipped my toes in a decent bit. The story is unfortunately told in one of my least favorite methods primarily, by reading letters or reading short descriptions of items. I assume this could change as things progress, but it's also not an uncommon method especially given the post-apocalyptic theme. That being said, the environments and themes tell quite a story as well. Large mushrooms have appeared, buildings are destroyed, and I assume some of what I'm seeing in the game is associated with Halloween being the time that I picked up this gem. There are ice cream vans that play music and jump scare you, and scarecrows that drag you off and kill you (respawning you in the safe house). There are research missions for most of every area that tell you a bit more about the events you are dealing with when completing dungeons. These also tell you the very grim story of what happened to all the other survivors. With the player limit being four and no living npc's to my knowledge its safe to assume that just about everyone is dead. It seems like our characters are warlocks who have made a pact with an otherworldly entity often attributed to voodoo. Some of the messages suggest that witches practicing voodoo may have caused this apocalypse, others are entirely unsure as to what caused it. I hope the story continues to progress and we find out what really occurred. Opinion in full: Love the game so far, and really appreciate the dev being so quick to respond. Something I wouldn't expect from a small indie project. I hope to learn more about what happened to this town, and presumably the world. The game play thus far feels like a mash up of games like Blackout Club, Phasmophobia, and Metaphysical. I would love to see more mechanics added like crafting additional items beyond the three primary items. I see a lot of potential in this game, and look forward to diving deeper into the lore and getting better at the game mechanics.
