About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

Reviews
The last time I made music on PC, it was in the 90s with Adibou minigame or a similar game... 30 years after I discovered again that making real music within a game is incredibly satisfying! I really like how OffBeat give you a few options to begin with and you unlock a lot of things to add on your composition. It's great as it is, but it's the dev roadmap that make me recommend it now !
A great tool for making music that coincidently has a game. You can use the music however you like including commercially afterwards as well

si te gustaria hacer musica me parece una muy buena manera de empezar,
Thank you for encouraging me to be creative again with a cozy space. I'll likely be playing this a lot when I'm home alone. I havn't been able to play with things like this since I was a kid, and I was usually left alone to just enjoy it and figure out how things worked. This is giving me a similar feeling. A warm, earthy, cozy room with tools gradually presented to me to enjoy using.
this game is absolutely perfect for the people who made music on garageband on their ipad air when they were 9 and then lost the files. Or for people who dont have FL studio, or for people who play an instrument, play video games and dont know how "get into" digital production, or for people who like having little to no stakes when creating art.
The first message the game gives you is a disclaimer saying that you own full rights to any music you make in the game, and for that alone I recommend this game. On top of that, it's just super fun and it lets me feel really creative without having to learn an entirely new system of instruments from scratch via punishing trial and error.
Charming music program/synth/sequencer/fx that can be enjoyed by any skill level. Particularly like having clients to work for and themes to compose. Sharing tracks with the community and getting feedback is fun, too. Easy recco! I do make music....would you mind checking out my Bandcamp solo albums if you liked my review? https://highseer.bandcamp.com/album/an-unmastered-life-loops-vol-3 Cheers!
