About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

Reviews
i am not the best at all when it came to making music but i find it insanely fun, and this game just makes things so easy. it's very intuitive and engaging :D the instruments are so silly yet so charming, i also love the visuals, didn't expect such whimsy in that department, a rather welcomed surprised, 10/10, i highly reccomend it for anyone wanting to learn music production but too intimidated by DAW's or confused on how to work them

this game makes me feel like those clips of xqc making the worst beats of all time. please buy it.
Now this is a really special game. I love *everything* about it; the premise, the ethos, the look, the sound... it's got the juice. The in-game commissions are enticing and loads of fun, the instruments sound great and are a blast to mess with and the art is gorgeous. And beyond that it's just an incredibly well-realised set-up that is just so enjoyable, so immediate, and so inviting. Seasoned musicians will obviously (and quite rightly) get a kick out of it, but it also seems great for people with no prior musical experience. It's everything that games - and music - should be IMO. Rewarding, intoxicating, creative and just an ABSOLUTE BLAST. Also a huge, huge fan of the fact that it's very straight up about players owning the music they create in it. That absolutely rips and I really hope to see a ton of cool people making full tracks, even albums, in this glorious thing. All this and it's still in Early Access! I can't wait to see what treats are still to come.
Whether you're interested in learning music, or already enjoy making it -- whether you're a beginner, hobbyist, or professional -- you will like this little game! It starts off very basic to show you how the features work, and will give you quests to play around and make different themes based on the mood. As you progress, the game will introduce you to new instruments and upgrades to alter your sounds (i.e. giving the cat piano "attack" and "sustain" features, giving you control over the octave, etc.). It's a surprisingly in-depth game that does a good job at teaching without holding your hand the whole way through. I imagine the progression/reward will encourage others to keep making more so you can play around with new toys; it definitely was the case for me! I'm glad that it doesn't just tell you to learn music theory and then slaps your ass and lets you figure out the rest on your own. I really love that the game will save your songs, so that you can always look back on them. I also really appreciate that you're free to do whatever you want with the music you make through the game. It's extremely generous and they didn't have to do that, but they did. I'm only in the beginning stages, but according to another review I saw, you will eventually get Freeplay / Sandbox mode where you can use all the instruments and compose songs for yourself. I make my own music through FL Studio and I have tons of instruments at my disposal already, but when I'm feeling a little whimsical, I can see myself opening this game every now and then! It's basically another DAW with video game elements, really freaking cool. It's a game made with true passion for music and teaching others how to make music! I love it! DLC Idea: Additional instruments? :) *hint hint wink wink* (Will update my review once it fully releases. But, honestly, I'm already loving the game, I don't know if there will be much else to say.)
c'était un jeu marrant au début puis j'ai commencé a travaillé pour une musique pendant 3 heures, trop bien pour vouloir débuté dans la musique.
i have zero music theory knowledge nor do i have the patience to learn but this game is incredible and has endless options to be as creative as you wish
No he jugado tanto, pero hasta el momento es bastante interesante y divertido, veo que cada update meten cosas que van completando la parte de producción.
Great game, will be patiently waiting for the next chapters
