I've followed this games development from a somewhat early stage since I know the dev personally, and while the new update did address SOME issues, the game remains as a boring, tedious, and monotonous as ever. While the new characters are neat, they either make the game piss easy or borderline unplayable. For example, the grenade character got a major change from playtesting that makes the grenades damage based instead of an instant destroy and now modules, one of the main sources of upgrades, take 5 GRENADES to destroy. Keep in mind these grenades take time to explode and don't stick to anything. The most I can say for biomes is that... they exist? They don't really do anything besides limit where certain modules can be found. This was a highly requested addition during early access but it was implemented in possibly the laziest way I could think of. Ore spawns are no different in biomes, it's all layer dependant, which makes no sense for the new Scrapyard biome due to Scrapmetal being an ore in the game already, and don't even get me started on why the biome is yellow and the ore is white. I'm not even gonna bother talking about the enemies for more than this sentence because there are only 2 and they're both not even a threat, the only threats to your life in this game is fuel consumption, lava, and the lack of a minimap (which did exist in earlier iterations but was later removed). The new "challenge" moon is also piss easy. Once you find the secret ending, you enter a portal and are teleported to a new "challenge" moon made of denser blocks and containing less coal, but that doesn't matter at all. You don't lose any of your upgrades or modules and all you do is mine directly down from spawn 5000 blocks to sit in front of another portal and watch a 30 second text scroll cutscene. In it's current state I really can't recommend this game for even half the price, it severely needs an overhaul of it's design philosophy. Every run feels exactly the same and even the most "challenging" parts are a left click simulator.

Overall, I enjoyed the game, but I would perhaps suggest most people wait until it's further along in development. I will note that I did not actually finish the game, for reasons I'll get to. The parts I liked: - Mining felt very satisfying, and the difference with each level of upgrade felt very good. - The world generation looked good, and really promoted a sense of risk-taking, especially at the beginning where I was dropping down shafts and going from one pocket of coal to another. - Finding modules was always fun, especially at the beginning. - I liked Some of the UI decisions. The Upgrade tree was nice, and being able to pin specific upgrades was good. Parts I think need some improvement: - The beginning part can get very slow and tenuous. I died a few times, sometimes after several minutes of scraping by, and it got pretty frustrating. Upgrading is slow enough at the start where it's hard to feel progress, and then later in the game it shoots up so quickly that I was maxing out multiple upgrades at a time. - While I liked the modules, I ran out of unique ones pretty quickly, and by the end I was just piling on the damage and crit chance ones, which were... - Basically completely useless. The Steam page says that each layer of digging is harder to get through, but just by picking up iron when I saw it as I went down, the difference in damage requirement to break stone was basically invisible. I don't actually know if it Should become slower when you get to a new type of rock, but some additional challenge to go along with the new ores might be nice. - A lot of the game was pretty unintuitive. I was very, very deep into the map before I realized I had to go up to find SpaceDust (I know it's in the name, but the whole game is set in what looks like an asteroid, with meteorite craters, so I figured I'd find it somewhere deep under). - Both the lack of variation in modules and the unforgiving opening make replayability pretty low, currently. - The UI hotkeys were sort of confusing. Maybe I was just misunderstanding the settings page, but there were keys to open the inventory and upgrade page, but not the crafting page, and no one dedicated button to go back to the game map. Small things that just need to be fixed (and hopefully will be soon): - The fuel reserves didn't restore fuel expended by flying, which made them much less useful during the SpaceDust mining part of the game where you also can't restore fuel by mining coal. I assume this is a bug, and by the point where I got up there it didn't make a huge difference. - This is a big one. Once I upgraded my shot speed, the game's performance immediately got very bad while I was trying to mine down. This was right after I completed the final upgrade, and was mining to look for where to use the drive, but my game kept freezing and then abruptly crashed. None of my progress was saved, so I just gave up (for the reasons explained in the previous list). Additions I hope to see in the future (not fixes): - A wider range of modules - More story (I know you have this planned) - A wider range of environments - A wider range of materials to find, with associated upgrades/craftables While this seems pretty critical, I did have a good time playing, and I can see a lot of potential here. I'm just not sure it would be worth paying for, yet, for most people.
Even for the price, there's just not enough here yet to justify a purchase. This feels more like an early dev build, rather than even a public beta. It's a shadow of an interesting concept, and by all means keep an eye on it, but right now that's all it is. I'll change this review when it's fleshed out enough, and if the execution ends up being as interesting as the concept, but this was not ready to hit stores yet, even as an early access game.
I have really enjoyed it so far and look forward to watching it grow over time. If you like mining , exploring and making those upgrades this is definitely worth it.
Epic game that is really fun to play with the best part of the game is definitely finding out little secrets and stuff you wouldn't think of to look at. The developer is a pretty awesome person to talk to and learn about there inspiration for making the game there a good friend of mine and i think they did incredible at making it.
