Хардкорный, физический пазл-платформер, напоминающий сплав «Katamari» и «Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy». Используя способность захватывать различные предметы помоги Окнусу забраться на вершину и узнать что он такое. Геймплей: https://youtu.be/S_cWBK83MDA Оригинальной, увлекательный челлендж. Тут сочетается механика с прилипанием предметов к персонажу, как в «Katamari» и концепция карабканья по платформам без прыжков, как в «Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy». Katamari + Getting Over It, with chill vibes and consistent physics! Loving it already! Edit: Played some more of it, still loving it and thought I should add a little more detail since there's not many reviews yet: The game feels completely fresh and unique, and while it does evoke the games above it also has a much more interactive world than something like your usual Getting Over It or Only Up clone. There's checkpoints for one thing, and there's also a ton of shortcuts and side paths with upgrades or collectibles to find. When you fall back down you could just teleport to the highest checkpoint, OR you could use your current state/upgrades to treasure hunt or explore a side path. This gives a really nice break to de-stress from the hard climb you just fell from. The huge amount of shortcuts/secrets feels downright metroidvania/soulslike at times! I would also add Mud/Snow Runner to the list of sorta-similar games. I am often reminded of those when trying to slowly physics-climb my way up a tough set of obstacles while avoiding slippage. So I guess a more apt analogy might be Katamari-SnowRunner-Darksouls? Either way, don't sleep on this game, if you're into physicsy-movement or just unusual games it's wonderful!
I've never played a game quite like Ocnus Theory. It's a challenging, precision platformer with a gorgeous art style. I'm still very early days but can already thoroughly recommend it. I will update this review as/when I play more to better share my thoughts!
This is an odd but enjoyable game. You collect blocks like in Katamari Damacy, but instead of just growing, you need to climb. There are plenty of secrets to find and fun side challenges. It's easy to think it's gonna be like Getting Over it where you need to climb and can fall and lose absolutely all your progress. But it's not that bad. There are checkpoints and unlockable shortcuts and elevators. You can make a good amount of progress in different runs even if you're not just climbing. More than anything, it reminds me of Snake Pass. It's a platformer, climbing game that doesn't revolve on jumping. It's strange and tough but fair. But I have to say, this game has some of the worst sound design I've played in an otherwise good game. There are so many sounds that are just terrible to hear. If you roll up a spider or bird, they make terrible sounds. Music is okay, but the occasional really bad sound makes me want to keep the volume very low as I play. It's not bad enough I want to play with it muted, but it's definitely a mark against it. Still, if you want an indie game that does something weird and different and does a good job with lots of secrets to find, this is the game for you
Despite appearances this is actually a Soulslike only instead of dealing with tough enemies, you have to deal with platforming obstacles and physics. Deceptively simple looking and easy to learn game, yet hard to master. Dunno if I'll ever master it but it's still very rewarding to overcome whatever the next obstacle will be. Surprisingly rich with lore too. As of this writing, I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs, the only glitch so far is getting caught inside of a moving physics object and being unable to break free, however the checkpoint system of the game helps negate many frustrations on the recommended difficulty. EDIT: Upon beating the game, I can say this is one of the most unique indie games I've had the pleasure of playing. I never did master it, I feel, but instead was able to overcome many obstacles during the climb my own way. And while I did encounter a number of bugs during my full playthrough (both minor and major), the developer was very quick to patch the game to fix them, and even went so far as to help replace a corrupted save file. It was a helluva climb.
Really good game that has a ton of exploration and secrets. If you ever wanted more control and realistic physics over the object you pick up in Katamari you should give this a try. I would recommend playing this on a game pad as the added difficulty of using mouse and keyboard does give it a bit of getting over it vibes.
A creative and well executed idea. The platforming is challenging but the many checkpoints, shortcuts, and other helpful tools keep it from being frustrating. So far I find the most fun part of this game is the freedom to build myself into whatever shape is currently needed. It feels rewarding to make a challenging section easier by playing smart rather then struggling with a bad build.
The character movement is waaaaaay too slow, it makes it very boring to travel anywhere or do anything. I got myself stuck in geometry at one point and was forced to reload my last checkpoint which meant re-watching a cutscene and a full minute or longer of rolling in a straight uneventful line just to get back to where I was. Wouldn't recommend this to anybody unless they are an actual sloth (the animal) or are brain damaged and live in slow motion.
This is a pure gem of an indie game. Very few games have caused me to feel such dizzying heights of joy when finally overcoming an obstacle that has been crushing my spirit. It's truly the dark souls of climbing, down to the secrets and shortcuts you can unlock. It's "Getting Over It" if it was made to actually be fun instead of pure frustration. Each new area is gorgeous and provides new thematic challenges that keep surprising me. It has only gotten better and better the more I've played. Try this game, it's worth it.
Fresh and mysterious open-world open-ended puzzle platformer, basically Tunic + Grow Up + Besiege + Getting over it with bennet foddy
