NVIDIA® VR Funhouse
It just don't work on my Index. No sound & my hands are wrong. Left hand is right, right is left....
It's free for anyone with an NVIDIA graphics card. It's what you can expect for free - essentially a tech demo . Pierhead arcade is better. Recommended only as its free.
"NVIDIA® VR Funhouse" is probably more marketing exercise than serious game. It's a set of VR tech demos that many have compared to "The Lab". It's also really old, 8 years old at the time of this review. It was designed to sell VR headsets and NVidia Geforce 980 cards... so if you have an old relic of a gaming rig, this will be "contemporary" for you. For the rest of us, nope. Anyway a bunch of rather trivial minigames for VR... not really worth your time. You're better off spending money for a real VR game than this. Might be useful if you're trying to sell your VR headset to someone else. This has some fairly mediocre/dated looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
Fun minigames and its got achievements, bit blurry tho, can be improved by turning the SteamVR resolution scaling up.
