About
Nuclear Option is a combat flight game set on a dynamic and realistic battlefield of the near future. Use an array of advanced weapons to change the course of battles as you intercept bombers, duel fighters, fly under the radar, or unleash the fury of nuclear weapons on enemy formations.
Each aircraft comes with an immersive cockpit featuring a situational awareness HUD, identifying nearby targets and threats. Aircraft can be flown with various controllers or with a mouse-controlled "virtual joystick", requiring no special hardware.
Experience realistic flight dynamics, with stalls, spins and g-force effects fully implemented, as each aircraft is composed of up to 50 individually simulated physics parts . A highly detailed damage model means that the condition of each part affects the way your aircraft flies.
Build your own missions using the included mission editor, and then fly your mission solo or with friends in PVP or PVE multiplayer combat.

Possibly the best combat flight sim available. Maximum fun for minimal complexity all under 5GB
Extremely excellent game! Super fun gameplay loops, suprisingly realistic mechanics and constant updates. Also no grind like *ahem* "other" games, just jump straight in with friends. Cant wait to see where this goes!

The good version of War Thunder. The game has an excellent variety of aircraft both in terms of type (VTOL, fixed-wing, tiltrotor, and both compound and conventional helicopters) and doctrinal role (EW, air superiority, interception, ground attack, logistics, tactical bombing;) All are available from the moment you start the game; there are no grinds or microtransactions. In terms of gameplay, it strikes a balance between simulation and arcade-style expedience. It never takes long to get back in the fight after being shot down, which will happen often until you master using flares and ECM to evade incoming missiles; Intercepting enemy AAMs with your own allows for aggressive tactics when flying head-on towards the enemy. The act of flying is fun; most aircraft have forgiving flight models, perhaps the hardest being the helicopters and tiltrotor. Selecting targets to lock on to while simultaneously maintaining control is challenging; I fly with a stick but take my hands off it to look around and mark targets with my mouse. The game shines brightest in PvP, where every dogfight becomes a mind game; how many missiles should I spend on this target, knowing that they will have a chance to launch at me and I may need to spend missiles intercepting? Should I launch against a fleeing fighter, pressuring them to notch and allow me to catch up, even if my first couple missiles will not likely land? Enemy airbases are a tactical puzzle to unpick, requiring successive strike missions to degrade air defences, eventually culminating in the nuclear destruction of an unprotected base. The graphics and especially the sound are both great; of particular note are the sonic booms made by supersonic jets and the massive fireball of the larger nukes. No technical complaints running the game on Linux through Proton, including using my stick (Logitech Attack 3.) Even in 64 player battles it runs well on good but not outrageous specs. Overall I can't recommend this game enough, especially to anyone else out there looking to detox from WT. I haven't even touched on the radar/stealth mechanics or the modding scene (check out Aryx's projects.) If you're on the fence, get the game and you won't regret it. LLM delenda est.
This game is a blast, pun intended. Once you figure out how to properly play it nothing really beats it.
i love doing war crimes in this game
"Fission Decision" has rapidly become one of my favorite games ever, full stop!
I am slightly biased as I do love flying war planes / helis more than just about anything else in a game. I mostly play PVP and I run a full HOTAS (Virpil throttle & stick, MFG Pedals) with Track IR and this game really scratches my itch to get some high fun A2A and A2G action at a decent pace and not worry about startup sequences / ultra realism like in DCS, or slower (but very fun) flying you can do in Arma III; and I have over 7k hours in Arma, mostly flying. There is just a very magical element to Nuclear Option that hits all the right notes, including the soundtrack which is just the chef's kiss of awesomeness. I will literally get the saxophone rock songs invading my mind at random times not even playing, it is truly that good. The planes and helis are all fictional in the most realistic and kick-ass ways imaginable. The liveries that are available via the workshop mods are endless, and you can swap liveries every time you die if you like from a drop down menu of what you have installed, even on multiplayer servers which is fantastic. The learning curve is pretty easy if you have played other flight games like Arma III as far as weapons types and their deployment against various foes. The satisfaction of a long range or BVR kill on an enemy is always satisfactory, but getting kills with your guns in a dogfight (especially if you are out of missiles) really gives a feeling of (air) superiority... so much so you won't even care when you get hit with a missile on your way back to base! If you like flying games that require a bit of skill, if you have a HOTAS especially, you will definitely enjoy this game! the Dev team is continually putting out updates, fixes, and new aircraft. Do not wait for this game to get out of early access, it is already amazing. Do not wait for a sale, you get your moneys worth. If you are reading this, just get the game, it is a (nuclear) blast!
Just Brilliant.
Built for having fun, not enslaving you. The modding community is unhinged, dedicated and very talented.
