NoseBound

Bought this as I am a huge Cthulhu/cult fan, so it interested me. So first off, I will admit that the visuals for this game are different and really unique. Definitely a selling point. It also has a a story line that has some backbone to it, but it eventually falls incredibly flat and isn't really fleshed out that well. The voice acting for a couple of the characters (Lemon McCoy, the Bartender for example) sound incredibly slurred and strange to the point of hilarity. Like it has been passed through a filter of some sort. Not even remotely like a human voice. Threw me off having to sit and listen to it. The voice to text was way off. So many spelling errors. Missing words. Wrong words. Capital letters when there shouldn't be. Some of the phrases made no sense. It says in the credits that the English was revised, but it clearly wasn't. The game play itself was fine I guess. Character seems to glide on the spot. Characters have an animation that is repeated, even when they are not talking and is not in time with the text. Finding things to interact with on the screen was a matter of just moving the mouse constantly. The top toolbar should just be locked as well in my opinion. Some of the choices/interactions just made little sense really. Sound and music was generally good. Quite creepy. Although it sounded like there was a Mansions of Madness sound clip towards the end when you receive a certain item. All in all - completed in 2 hours. Pick it up when its on a massive sale, don't expect a lot from it. Needs a hell of a lot of work to be a polished product, and needs to be a lot longer with a deeper narrative.

NoseBound is a film noir point and click adventure game. You explore Deep Sleep City, a dark and grim place full of suspicious characters. The main character, Ray Hammond, is a grizzled old detective with a short temper. The game is fairly linear. You won't be able to progress unless you have collected everything that you need. You may have to backtrack for a few things if you miss them the first time or can't figure out how to get them. I got stuck briefly on one or two puzzles, but I'm not that good at point and click adventures. The music and sound really stands out here, from the main theme's grim piano notes to the words you won't hear in most mainstream games. All of the characters have full voice acting and the sound effects are crisp and realistic. The themes are definitely not kid safe! The graphics are mostly monochrome dark grays to match the endless night theme of the city, with bits of color added strategically. The character models are very good, with lots of personality. There isn't a lot of replayabilty here, but that's what I'd expect from an adventure game. I didn't find it too difficult to complete. I think the only place I got really stuck was when I missed a secret compartment and had to go back. I enjoyed NoseBound a lot. I would definitely play a sequel to this game!

low budget indie game that has little going on for it. the visuals are somewhat unique, but ugly all the same. voicing was terrible except the protagonist's, which is your sterotypical worn out noir detective voice. at least it wasn't super irritating like the others'. the sound effects and music were ok. the protagonist's walking was slow as all eff, even when you double click left mouse. i know he's an old man but still, try to respect people's time. the puzzles were easy, hardly any challenge, except i had to brute force the last digit of the office basement door one. the story is your average paranormal-horror adventure fare. nobody looks for sense or logic in those and this one didn't offer any either. there are some didactic philosophical and metaphysical ramblings, which only contributed to my dislike of the whole experience, even though they didn't necessarily contradict with my views. this is just not the media to gain wisdom from. whenever i force myself to finish a game, becase i've come this far, or paid bucks for it or whatever, i know it doesn't deserve a positive review. it's my litmus. only try this one if you're a big fan of this specific genre or it's on a handsome sale.

Sehr unterhaltsam für einen Abend. Das Adventure für Erwachsene weiß durch Story, Setting und Präsentation zu gefallen. Auch wenn die Grafikengine sicherlich nicht zu den Neuesten gehört, so hat man trotzdem ein wirklich ansehnliches Ergebnis hinbekommen. Das Spiel ist ziemlich linear, leicht und auch nach nur 2 Stunden durch. Ich finde es fast schon erfrischend, dass es in diesem Adventure keine Steam Errungenschaften gibt, weswegen man dauern mit einem Auge in die Lösung schaut, um ja nichts zu verpassen. Wer ein kurzweiliges Krimi-Film-Noir Erlebnis haben möchte, ist hiermit im Sale auf jeden Fall gut bedient, zum Vollpreis ist es einfach zu kurz geraten. Vollzeitprivatdetektive spielen lieber nochmal die ganz alten Sherlock Holmes Titel durch. Fazit: das "Sack.gesicht" gehört mir! ^^ ;-)

This is a very different game...seems like it's been in the works for over ten years, Captivating in a strange way. Recommend.

If you're a fan of point-and-click adventures and enjoy a journey into a twisted, occult film-noir tale, NoseBound is a great place to get lost in. The game can be tremendously difficult at times, but with perseverance, most of the puzzles can be overcome. While it definitely has the feel of an indie title, this only adds to its charm. The unique art style and atmospheric storytelling complement a narrative driven by a hard-boiled anti-hero manipulated by forces beyond this realm. If you’re looking for a dark and stylish detective story with a touch of the supernatural, NoseBound is well worth your time.

A retro experience full of mystery, occultism and dark humor. Really takes me back to the Gabriel Knight days of DOS. Wonderful aesthetic decisions, I'm almost 1hs in and I'm hooked!

Nousebound para ser honesto es un buen juego point and click. No te hace hacer tantas vueltas y pixel hunting como en la vieja escuela, gran parte de las cosas que encuentras sirven para lo que toca o mas adelante. Los Puzzles estan bastante bien y gran parte de las cosas que encuentran si tienen sentidopara cada uno. Tiene sus varios errores en audio como partes raras en la animación, pero su sentimiento y cariño se siente. Eso es algo que se le puede valorar.

I'm a sucker for period atmosphere, and the 40s / 50s detective vibe hits spot on. The animation and art really helps to give this game a unique feel, which is what I look for when a game tells a story as much as the player's interaction guides the narrator through the game. Still playing through it, but already enjoying it, and trying to work through the puzzles without looking at spoilers.
