Travel through 50 gorgeous levels and explore wondrous places, make friends with mermaids and mushrooms in distant lands, prevent a war between two powerful nations and watch the story come to life thanks to enhanced 3D graphics! (Developer) As far as the story is reasonably good and the continuation of the first part. You don't have to have played this one. But it's recommended because it's a good game, just like this one. Collect, build and remove blockages under time pressure. However, the time pressure can be switched off. The graphic quality and the environment ambience is in the old style. This allows you to play in a well-made environment and this very clear. The focus is on the most sensible distribution of the collected resources and the collection itself. Especially if you want to play against the time. A good game with really good cards. Recommended. (Entwickler) Soweit zur Geschichte die halbwegs gut ist und die Fortsetzung vom ersten Teil. Diesen mußt du nicht gespielt haben. Ist aber empfehlenswert da es ein gutes Spiel ist, genau wie dieses hier. Sammeln, Bauen und Blockaden entfernen unter Zeitdruck. Der Zeitdruck lässt sich jedoch abschalten. Die Grafikquallität und das Umgebungsambiente ist im alten Style. Dadurch kannst du in einer gut gemachten Umgebung spielen und dies sehr Übersichtlich. Schwerpunkt ist die sinnvollste Verteilung der gesammelten Ressourcen und das sammeln selbst. Insbesondere wenn du gegen die Zeit spielen willst. Ein gutes Spiel mit echt guten Karten. Empfohlen. [i]Northern Tale 2[/i] is a time management game and is the sequel to [i]Northern Tale[/i]. This will be a bit of a spoiler for those who are not aware of how [i]Northern Tale[/i] ended, so some forewarning there. ;) At the end of [i]Northern Tale[/i], Ragnar, king of the Vikings, defeated Gesta, the witch who had kidnapped his three daughters: Summer, Autumn, and Winter. In [i]Northern Tale 2[/i], Gesta returns and this time, she reveals why she had kidnapped Ragnar's daughters in the first place. It turns out that there's an even greater evil out there than Gesta. Along with repairing his kingdom, Ragnar must confront this evil and defeat it, along with help from his daughters. That's the basic gist of the story. As for the gameplay, it retains a lot from the first [i]Northern Tale[/i]. You have buildings that can help produce resources: food, wood, and gold. There are a total of 45 story levels and 5 bonus levels. Each level has a number of tasks to complete and you can earn anywhere from 1 to 3 stars, depending on how quickly you complete all tasks. You can choose among relaxed (no timed), normal, or multiclick (you can queue multiple tasks at once) modes. I chose multiclick mode, as I like to queue tasks and plan ahead. Although there are no Steam achievements, there are plenty of in-game achievements, a few which are secret achievements. The newest addition, gameplay wise, is the daughters tent. The daughters tent is needed because in later levels, evil roots will start to block workers' path and surround buildings, preventing resources from being produced. The daughters can help get rid of these roots (provided that there is enough food and gold). Now that I've gone over the story and gameplay, I'll move onto my review. It's been a while since I last touched a [i]Northern Tale[/i] game but I can say that [i]Northern Tale 2[/i] is way more challenging than the first one. (This is assuming that you choose to play in timed mode.) The later levels especially prove to be quite daunting to complete and they require both the right timing and correct use of bonus to earn 3 stars. It can get frustrating if you're a novice of TMs but quite doable for those who are experts. There is more story as well, as there are more cutscenes and such. The art is in the same beautiful style as the previous game and the music is the same, too. Overall, I enjoyed [i]Northern Tale 2[/i] although I slightly liked the first [i]Northern Tale[/i] more. Would I recommend it at the current asking price? Well, if you're going for full completion (getting 3 stars on all levels and earning all in-game achievements), then yes, it is. You'll get plenty of gameplay for your money's worth. However, if you simply want to play through the game just for the sake of the story, then it's better to wait for a sale, when it can be quite the bargain. ^^

Rather than rushing through trying to complete each level in a certain amount of time, I like to play relaxed and complete everything: all resources picked up, all potholes in the roads filled, all buildings leveled up to the max, etc. Northern Tale 2 allows me to do that most of the time and doesn't penalize me for playing that way (3 stars awarded on all completed levels). There were a few of the later levels that I did just the bare minimum to complete the level because of the aggravating roots and ladders (see below). What I disliked most about it is the obnoxious requirements in later levels: the dragon (level 30) that kept setting fires, the ladders that slowed workers down (starting in level 31) and the roots (starting in level 33)! The roots are in almost every level after that and require food and gold to be able to remove the roots as they pop up in paths or cover buildings. Once the roots cover a building, no resources are produced until the roots are removed. One good thing is that I only found one or two levels that had "strategy meltdown" (choosing the wrong strategy requiring a restart of the level) which was an improvement over Northern Tale, It is usually apparent relatively quickly so doesn't waste a lot of time replaying the level with a different strategy. If you like the genre, you might want to give it a whirl. [h1]Short version: 55%[/h1] Northern Tale 2 improved much over the first game, especially when it comes to level design and resource balance, but it is still just a decent enough time manager at best. [h1]Long version:[/h1] Northern Tale 2 continues right where the first game ended, with our Viking hero, Ragnar trying to rebuild his kingdom after his battle with Greta the sorceress. Unfortunately, she is still around, so Ragnar has to gather a plethora of artefacts to stop her and an even greater evil. This story is still not much, but at least it gives the stages some ongoing narrative. The core mechanics were untouched, we still gather the usual food/wood/gold trio with our 1-3 workers from a wide variety of sources, albeit this time around we do not constantly lack wood. We lack everything equally instead, which, ironically, makes this sequel more balanced, if unfair sometimes. This is not the only place where the game feels unfair. There is a large variety in enemies and the helpers we use against them, which is usually a standard way for a level designer to steer players a bit. Here, however, some of the randomly spawning enemies feel more like a cheap shot to force level resets and longer playtime. Looking past this issue, however, we find many acceptable stages in Northern Tale 2, so if you are a fan of the genre, try it.

Wirklich schönes Spiel mit einigen netten abwechslungsreichen Maps inkl. Bossgegnern etc.. Leider etwas zu schwer für den Durchschnittlichen Spieler, 3 Sterne sind oft sehr knapp, 2-3 davon waren für mich nur mit einigem Frust machbar. Level 30 habe ich sicherlich 20 mal wiederholt. Siehe Hercules Serie. Nur so habe ich das letzte Bonuslevel freischalten können. Aber es hat sich am Ende dennoch sehr gelohnt! Keine Steam Errungenschaften. Kein Full HD. Daher: Wertung: 7,5 Wie immer gilt: im Deal kaufen !

As nice as the previous opus, new mechanics appear around the middle of the game. I'm still sad there is no Steam achievements while they do appear in game.

It is a pretty nice time management fix the road type of game. It does nothing innovative but it is still a decent way to pass the time. Works fine on Linux with Proton (Proton 4.2-1).

It's a casual and chill time management game that reminds me of the old Popcap games. It's more or less the same gameplay loop throughout 45 levels with a bit of variety here and there. for what it's worth, it's a decent little game.

It's far better than the first one, with a beautiful map, a more complex story and new game mechanisms. It was a real pleasure to play this game.
