The gameplay is very unforgiving, mechanics poorly explained, and you can't use logic to extrapolate on how your upgrades interact with the world. You have to learn through trial and error in a roguelike game that will kill you in 1-2 hits from explosions starting off-screen and send you back to the start. I also managed to get myself soft-locked early on from a polymorph potion turning me into an uncontrollable, wall-clipping worm that ran out when I was stuck in a wall. There's mods that allow respawning, which I'd recommend if you're giving the game a try - but beware that damage immunities will not make you immune to damage you'd expect. Being immune to damage from electric shocks for example does not mean you can fire a lightning bolt in water and be fine, because against all reason - a lightning bolt does explosion damage instead of shock damage. A friend who plays this game also informed me that fire immunity does not even grant you damage reduction from lava - even though you'd assume both are heat damage. I really wanted to like this game, but because it feels like it's trying to cheat the player at every turn. There's definitely difficulty you can learn to handle, but with seemingly random explosions everywhere - self-damaging spells, and unclear mechanics - I find there's not a proper learning curve to get you into the game without looking up guides to prepare you in advance for all the unfair nonsense the game will throw at you.
