First of all, thank you to the developer for sending me a free Steam key and asking me to review this game.
I played this game for an hour before writing this review.
I found the graphics to be pleasant on the eyes. The game controls were fairly simple to figure out, and even easier to use. The story, at least at this point, seems pretty linear, but that isn't a bad thing. Fights aren't all that difficult early in the game, although memorising where the medical kits are for healing is a very good idea. I initially had a bit of a tough time maneuvering around the school, more from not understanding the layout of the building, but once I figured this out it became far simpler. The game was quite enjoyable, if a bit simple. It reminded me of retro games from back in the 90s, but with much better AI and graphics.
If there are many good things to say about this game, there are also a few things I should point out that could use improvement; and hopefully they WILL improve, as this game is currently in Early Access and looks to have a Dev who is still putting time and work into it regularly.
- The translation process from Russian to English; I can only imagine how tedious and difficult of a process that can be. That being said, some words and phrases in Russian language just seems like they cannot be simply translated, literally, to English. Hopefully the Developer will have time to get someone skilled in both languages to come in and make some adjustments to the English text. It isn't that you can't understand what the characters are saying, it is more that you wish you could understand BETTER what they are saying, to get more enjoyment from the game,
- The AI. Although it is pretty good, is still needs improvement. Seems to be an occasional pathing issue with the AI. Better conversation options for NPCs is hopefully going to be added to the game at some point down the road, that would help the world feel more 'real'.
- The fighting. It is...pretty easy right now. Making the AI fight better, might create problems for some people, but if you paired it with an Easy/Hard mode option, it just might work. Its very strange when you are surrounded by enemies, that sometimes they will all attack you, and sometimes they will take turns while the ones not currently attacking will just stand there and let you beat on them.
- Again, i know this is Early Access, and the game is not completed. But i'd like to see a few more options for ways to solve quests. Instead of having to fist fight five boys, why not have an option to sneak up behind a few and choke them unconscious from behind? Having more choices for the way you solve problems would be wonderful.
- Last but not least, the hot Russian women NPCs! I feel like my character should be able to flirt with them and get a few phone numbers, lol. Or, maybe that IS happening, and i just don't get that through the translation?
All in all, this a game that i feel like is worth keeping an eye on. When finished, it could be a very enjoyable and competitive game. I applaud the Developer for the work put into this, and encourage them to keep at it!
Oh, and i did not run into any bugs while playing this game, no stutters or frame rate drops, nothing like that. Everything ran smoothly.
