About

This game is a Strategic game on the Eastern Front of World War II.
It is a digital port from the famous and eponym boardgame, No retreat!, designed by Carl Paradis, which retells the story of the titanic struggle between the invading armies of Nazi Germany versus Communist Russia during WW2 at a player-friendly and manageable level of scope and difficulty. With only 70 Army/Front sized counters for the whole campaign, and with very low stacking, it’s a quick-playing yet realistic affair that favours the strategic and offensive-minded player.
The moderate complexity of the game, the light number of armies and the contained size of the map allows easier onboarding, fast play and fun experience.

In a skillfully blended collation of classic hex-based wargaming and modern card-driven simulations, No Retreat: The Russian Front stays truly story-centric, providing the proper feel of sweeping maneuvers, exploitation and encirclements across the vast steppes and forests of Russia.
With a simple-yet-innovative economic model, players will also feel the growing might and sophistication of the Russian’s Red Army, and the degradation of the once-invincible German Wehrmacht, over the epic four year sweep of time that this merciless campaign was fought.
See the Axis hordes deeply invade Russia and encircle ill-prepared Soviet units.
Watch the Red army resist and slowly acquire experience to finally push back the Germans up to Berlin !
Each turn is alight with intriguing on-board challenges plus the surprise of 55 cards hand Events as players vie to win in one of three different ways.

Игра очень сырая. Интерфейс крайне не понятный и глюченый. Не могу назначить атаку, так как кнопки подтверждения нет!
Still in development, but very promising
The core idea and gameplay are solid, but the execution needs work. The PC freezes during the AI's turn, and the interface and menus are not intuitive. It’s a great concept, but the technical issues and UI design are currently holding it back
Баги в обучении. Не вполне понятный интерфейс. Пока сомнительная покупка.
I am enjoying this game much more than expected. It has just enough wargame crunchiness to make you think but not so much that it costs you hours of time to do a turn. PBEM is smoothly implemented.
Old Man attempts what should be a simple game. No. Actually used a deck of cards here so they did not have to do the appropriate programming. Card decks went out in the 50s. Disgusting. Instructions inadequate-you just do not know which buttons to push when. Detailed instructions to get through 2 turns would help greatly. Game not ready, and after watching a online video I'm still in the dark. I will wait to try this one again when they have come into the 2020s. BTW, to make the game more interesting make more hexes on the map so a sense of progress takes a little longer. Waiting for fixes.
This game is a digital adaptation of the board game of the same name and closely follows the version many players have enjoyed for years on Vassal. It includes the full campaign, which combines all of the individual scenarios into one complete experience. Players already familiar with the board game will have little trouble learning the interface, while newcomers may need some time to become comfortable with it. The developer continues to release updates and, from what I have seen, is genuinely interested in improving the game. There is still plenty of room for additional features and quality-of-life improvements. In my experience, AI campaigns can become blocked or freeze, making it impossible to continue the game. AI turn processing is also poorly optimized . This is currently the game's biggest weakness. PBEM multiplayer and human-versus-human games appear to be much more stable, and I believe these are currently the best way to enjoy the game until the AI receives further improvements. Most players seem to focus on the full campaign, but it is also possible to find opponents for PBEM multiplayer games. Since the game is still relatively new, I hope the online community will continue to grow as stability and optimization improve. Despite these issues, I still recommend the game to anyone who enjoys grand strategy games, historical wargames, and board game adaptations. I believe this is a very promising project, and leaving a negative review is not the best way to help it improve. Instead, I hope the developer continues addressing the AI, optimization, and stability problems, because the game has excellent potential.
