This is a very fun arcade game (when you get really into it) it has a rhythm of his own and its progressively difficult. At the start you will feel sluggish and wont know how to manage the enemies, specially if many accumulate in your screen but with time, you will be flying through the stage like a deadly shadow juggling many enemies. That said, the game DOES HAVE QUITE SOME FLAWS. First, You will need a controller ( a highly responsive one with a d-pad preferably) since there is no way to remap the keyboard controls and they are uncomfortable as they are, and believe me, you need quick response from your controller to have a chance. Second, there is no "practice/easy mode" for arcade, 5 levels + the boss level must be done in one run (old school hard...), you gain lives for each segment you finish in less than 30 seconds (without dying more than once) and each level has 5 segments, so you could potentially end up with around 20 extra lives for the boss... which won't happen unless you already have a strategy for each segment. A practice mode would have been nice to learn each level better, instead of having to start over to finally reach again the level you are currently stuck at for a chance to get better at that part. Also, its missing some icon to let you know what special weapon you currently hold, so you don't bomb/mine yourself because you don't remember you current weapon or noticed it changed >_< All in all a fun ninja game, quick paced, satisfying once you get used to it, but it can get pretty hard to finish it.
Great game - except if you had that heretic idea, that you will play it with keyboard, as you dont have any controller at home at all. Do not buy it. Worst keyboard layout ever. Could not change it.
Great music from Matt Gray (Last Ninja 2). Nice little, only offline 4 Player, fast paced Ninja survival fight Game. No support and no Exit Button :)
🥷🔥 NINJA SHODOWN — Pure Arcade Ninja Action at Its Finest 🔥🥷 Developer: Bitmap Bureau Review Type: ⭐ Positive | 🎮 Detailed | 💡 Helpful

🎯 Introduction Ninja Shodown is a true love letter to classic arcade games, delivering fast-paced action, razor-sharp reflex challenges, and relentless combat. Developed by Bitmap Bureau, the game offers exactly what it promises: pure, uncompromising fun, especially for players who appreciate old-school beat ’em ups done right. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕹️ Gameplay Highlights Combat is the core strength of Ninja Shodown. The pace is intense, with enemies constantly pressuring the player and demanding quick reactions. Controls are tight and highly responsive, allowing seamless transitions between melee attacks, projectiles, jumps, and special moves. The local co-op mode is a major highlight, turning each level into a chaotic and highly enjoyable ninja showdown. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎨🎵 Graphics, Soundtrack & Immersion The game features beautifully crafted pixel art, smooth animations, and impactful visual effects. The energetic soundtrack perfectly complements the arcade atmosphere, keeping the adrenaline high throughout every stage. The retro aesthetic isn’t just a visual choice — it’s a core part of the experience. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⚔️ Difficulty & Learning Curve Ninja Shodown is challenging — and proudly so. The difficulty feels demanding but fair, rewarding players who learn enemy patterns, timing, and positioning. It follows the classic arcade philosophy: easy to pick up, hard to master. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔥 What Makes It Addictive Fast and intense combat Constant challenge that encourages improvement Pure arcade design with no filler Energetic soundtrack High replay value, especially in co-op Every session ends with the urge to jump back in for “just one more run.” ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⭐ Final Verdict Ninja Shodown is a must-play for fans of arcade action, beat ’em ups, and retro-inspired games. It respects its roots while delivering a polished, challenging, and highly entertaining experience. Straightforward, intense, and incredibly fun. 🎮 Highly recommended.

Fantastic game that can be very addictive once you get into it. Not super long but it definitely has some difficulty at first until you learn the enemies, basic tactics, master the controls, etc. Both the main mode and survival are great, and VS. is a nice plus too. It's really got that arcadey pick up and play value. Well worth the money from an awesome developer.
"Why this game is not more popular is beyond me." ...exactly my words PLUS the Soundtrack alone is worth it and the game is also Singleplayer enough fun.
