Truly such a fun game to play the combat feels super rewarding and the mechanics and UI feel super fresh and interesting, I highly recommend if you like hard games.
I hate this game. Which is to say: this game has forever altered my brain chemistry with its absolutely addicting parry mechanic and tragically good storyline. I hate how much I love this game, because I will never be able to experience it for the first time again. How should I describe the gameplay: I'm not certain there are words in any language to truly describe the range of emotions I developped from playing this game. Was it frustrating? At times, yes. Was it so unbelievably satisfying when I FINALLY beat that god forsaken boss fight? (Lady Ethereal and Eigong I'm looking at you). 1000% yes. You will feel abosulutely unstoppable... until you get to the next boss fight. Play this game. I don't care if you don't like metroidvanias or precise combat. Play it anyways. Look sweet sweet Shuanshuan in the eyes and tell him you won't play the game because you're a COWARD. Join me in suffering. It was well worth it. It would be worth it if Shuanshuan was the only good part of the game. But he's not. Everything was fantastic. I can't think of one thing I didn't enjoy that wasn't just a result of me being dumb and/or not good enough. But I got good enough. And it was the single greatest triumph of my life. Play this visually, mechanically, storywise, and soundtrack wise PHENOMENAL game.
Cannot recommend this enough. Best game I've played this year. High points include: Engaging story and characters. This is refreshing for a genre where "dark souls"-style stories are the norm. The protagonist has a personality, friends, rivals, flaws, and growth. By the end of the game you have a full understanding of why the world is the way it is, and it's clear what impact your actions during the game have made on it. Amazing combat and bosses. This is not just "good for a 2D game"-good, it is some of the most fun combat in any game I've ever played. Bosses are difficult enough that you need to really learn their mechanics, but not so difficult that you're spending days banging your head into a wall. The ebb and flow of a mastered boss fight is incredibly satisfying. Incredible hand-drawn art. It's a little silly in spots, but you can tell a lot of heart and soul went into the art of this game. During high-intensity plot beats it switches over to comic-book-style animated panels and you can tell a lot of love went into this. The game is smaller than some other similar games in the genre, but I think this is fine. I'd rather be left wanting more than be begging for the game to end.
one of those rare games where you don't need to play more than 10 minutes max to see with near certainty it's a great game. everything about it flows, it looks and sounds amazing, it doesn't scream witty or sarcastic dialogue at you, the combat's solid and challenging, it's got the best brand new world I've ever seen from a Metroidvania. it's kind of got it all, even if it's not my favorite genre. I had to try it out, and I'm very glad I did. an easy recommendation to almost anyone into 2D action / adventures. very impressive game.
great game
Lo mejor que he jugado luego de Hollow Knight y Silksong. Recomendado, 10 de 10.
i want jiequan's b**bs in my face.
absolutely incredible game and the best combat ive ever had by far
