Beautiful HOG with a great story... Nightshift Legacy is the sequel of Nighshift Code. Our two friends, Mike and Isabella, are searching for a lost treasure when family matters from Isabella are happening. After her great-aunt died after a burglar searched for something, Isabella will learn what happened to her grandmother and grandfather, their lives before, during and after the Spanish Civil War in the thirties... The story is very great as you're alternating between the present and the past, and several countries: Spain, Russia, Mexico... As the game is belonging to the era of list of items on list of items, it could bore easily new players, however, the story is strong enough to make you want to finish it. Besides, there are some interesting minigames. Also, the graphics are also very good, the story being told in comic style but the scenes are a little more realistic. The soundtrack is also very strong. If you don't have it, for me, it's a must-have.
This is an excellent game; I had many entertaining, sometimes frustrating, hours playing this game. Ultimately I completed the levels and embraced the challange I faced. It was well worth the cost for the hours of enjoyment I received.
This is a very challenging game. Hidden object mixed with puzzles. Story line or arcade mode, with time limits that really challenge the mind.
Nightshift Legacy is a little glitchy on Windows 11, but still completely playable. The cursor is sometimes blinky and trails, and the screens sometimes go white with weird little squares appearing, then lags. Exiting the screen and reentering fix that, though I have to admit having a feeling of dread throughout the Story Mode that it would bug out completely during the final chapter and I wouldn't be able to finish. But it held out. Like most old school Hidden Object Games (HOGs), things are blurry as heck and the click boxes are unforgiving, and that is the challenge. (This is the toothpick ... I know it is ... click, click ... maybe not ... click, finally ... freakin' game). This title also has a kind of mean-spirited timer, that forces you to repeat parts of the chapter if you run out of time. Don't play around trying to figure out the various puzzles - read the in-game instructions. The game will severely punish you with time penalties for trying to figure out how a puzzle works by yourself - ask me how I know. Strangely, being forced to repeat several screens early on was not much of a penalty, because 90% of the objects-to-find were exactly the same, so it took only a few minutes to complete them again. I can't remember any other HOG using a repeat-the-screen penalty, and it's kind of pointless. Glad that innovation didn't stick around. So why recommend it? Because it is what passes for "hard" in the hidden object genre. So, if you are a longtime fan of the genre, it's worth a try ... on sale. But it should absolutely not be a starting point for new players; it's just too glitchy and outdated.
The image quality is far too low to make this anywhere near an enjoyable experience. Trying to find things might as well be a complex variation of determining which pixels hold the pixels you're looking for.
